Alice was really looking forward to the snow wasn't she Susan?

Becles, it probably would be a good idea for the lad to pack his pjs just incase he can't get back home.

Hi Realbutter, lovely to have you here :);)

I was breastfeeding in Asda's cafe today and a lady came up to me, gave me a hug and said how lovely it was to see (and I wasn't flashing she'd been watching me with the baby and saw me latch him on)

I think when you've breastfed in public yourself you find it easy to spot others doing the same. I always nod and give an approving smile if ever I see a Mum breastfeeding in public.

  • Oh Bless Alice - she must be thrilled to bits :) How much have you got? I hope you will be able to do a snowman with her tomorrow :)
I'm feeling a bit better now. Not perfect, still a little bit period painy, but it will pass I'm sure :)

Still having a relaxed evening tonight though - oven chips in the oven, and will be doing tinned toms, fried mushrooms and a fried egg for that all day breakfast feeling :)

  • isnt it strange how in a world where everything is sexualised, adverts are filled with semi naked bodies and boobs on billboards, that breast feeding women are made to cover up. The same pervs who buy the sun/sport to drool over the young naked girls, are the first to moan about a natural, beautiful thing!

Im still bf'ing at 6 weeks, havent fed in public yet..been expressing for that!

    hello :)

So I went to the GP, we are watchfully waiting on the PND situation and will review in a fortnight pending blood tests.

thanks to bruno for the very kind words about me:A. Am hoping the under the weatherness lifts for you all. Also lots of feel well vibes for very preggy DW, not fun. Also I think not fun for kind understanding hubbies of heavily preggy OHs (but maybe that's just me!)

susan, :)thanks for your question abut coping vs felt coping. I think I am not sure but I think I am actually doing significantly less 'mothering' and less well at it than my peers.

The GP suggested that I ask other mums to see if I am perhaps putting other mums on a pedestal, or if I am not doing very well. They are also investigating iron and thyroid levels to see if there are other reasons for me feeling so bad.

I was wondering about asking on here but I can't think of a good way to ask, cos comparing ourselves with each other is not very helpful, I think.

  • Weezl, I am very happy to give my perspective if it's helpful?

I certainly have mornings, afternoons and evenings when I can't cope with all that needs to be done. Sometimes I even have whole days where I fantasise about just curling up and hiding. However generally a good sleep, or a nice bath or even just coming on here lift me out of it and I can start to think more logically, break down what needs to be done into manageable tasks or ask for help.

If I felt that my 'I can't cope' phases were lasting longer than an evening, or a day then I would probably (hopefully) start to think that that was the point where I needed to ask for a bit more help/seek GP advice.

Is that at all helpful? Or were you looking for more pragmatic details about what other mummies get done day to day?

  • MGEB - the bf advice thread has been merged into PT.

Weezl - I'm sure we wouldn't mind discussing it, do you have any specific questions? I've had times when I felt that I wasn't being the "perfect" mum, time has relaxed that attitude because as far as Katie is concerned I'm the perfect mum for her.

There have been times when I've felt like I wasn't mothering, mainly to do with being out at family parties with DH whose job it was to sort Katie's nappies so there'd be looks IYKWIM.
