I've done some research and fortified soya milk is okay for over 1s. So just make sure the cartoon says it's got the added vits and calcium, but most of them do. It has marginally less fat than cow's milk but more other things like iron, i think. It's the only suitable non-dairy milk, oat/rice are too low fat and protein IIRC.top 2013 wins: iPad, £50 dental care, £50 sportswear, £50 Nectar GC, £300 B&Q GC; jewellery, Bumbo, 12xPringles, 2xDiesel EDT, £25 Morrisons, £50 Loch Fyne

I was ironing when James was little. He was on the floor and jumped up and grabbed the ironing board as I was moving the iron on something and before I could stop myself, I ironed his fingers
It wasn't too bad - just scabby fingers ends and it's left no mark, but I felt terrible at the time.
I normally iron in here if Charlotte is around and stick something on iPlayer for her to watch, and we chat about it while I iron.
She helps with most household chores. I normally give her a spare cloth and she wipes things, or she follows me around with her toy hoover. She can load the washing machine, put detergent in, and switch it onto the correct cycle, which impressed my Dad as he can't do that
you all ahve very helpful LO's Annabel has to be using the cloth I am etc and it drives me mad - things become VERY slow. I like going at pre-toddler helping speed
There was a toy ironing board and iron at toddlers on monday. I do my ironing when Annabel is in bed, so I had no idea how she knew how to use it either Susan :rotfl:Evansangel wrote: »Question for those whose babies have Eczema:
Lilys eczema was getting alot better, hardly any break outs at all.
Now suddenly she is covered it in, her arms are so rough and red.
I was thinking, it has appeared since i have been sharing my breakfast with her. Which has cows milk in.
I was under the impression that they could have small amounts of cows milk over 6 months?
Could she be lactose intolerant? Or am i over thinking things?
My brother was lactose intolerant and his showed up through eczema.
why not try an experiment and stop sharing your breakie and see if it clears up? If it does chat to the Dr, but it might not be an allergy. I know weather changes can trigger it too - i.e. all of a sudden clod outside and central heating etcr.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -

Maybe try her without any cows milk for a few days and see if it clears up?newmoneysaver wrote: »EA - L flares up within hours. You can see him getting agitated and making moves to itch. It's worse now his bedtimn routine takes the best part of an hour with him being naked whilst 2 different creams are applied and left to soak in. He run into the kitchen and sits ont he floor itching his feet.
I really hope it isn't a dairy reaction - it's horrible. It could be something as simple as it suddenly changed temperature...or teething. L is worse when teething and the HV told me it can have an effect!
D was exactly the same. I am SO very relieved he has grown out of his allergy. I truly hope L does too.newmoneysaver wrote: »Sami - we are using soya under the instruction of the community nurses and our GP. We have our appointment with the dietician when we should know more. There are certainly many unanswered questions regarding soya but sometimes needs must! Has L tried Pepti-Junior? I have an unopened tin here he could try....The one thing children wear out faster than shoes is parents:D

At the moment she's getting me in trouble. I sat her down because she was hitting the laptop and she threw herself backwards.
DH moaned and said i pushed her
Then when i moved her again she threw herself back again, but this time he saw it was her. Ha! :rotfl:
Lily loves eating off our plates, its my fault really as i kept giving her food to try from my plate.0 -

hi NMS just popping into say that you probably know this already, and sorry if you do, but supermarket own brand version of ready brek is the cheapest by far way to add extra calcium into a child's (or anyone's) diet, it has 1333mg of calcium per 100g of product whereas things like cheddar cheese has 750g per 100g. xx
Thankyou. I will have to re-introduce the readybrek I have in the cupboard (well, tesco own brand) It got dropped when Mr Independent decided it was more fun to eat shreddies with fingers.I've done some research and fortified soya milk is okay for over 1s. I was so happy to read D had grown out of his. I don't think this will be the case here as his reaction is getting worsebut fingers crossed, you never know.
Thanks for teh kind offer, but as we have a dietican appt in a few weeks, I hold off for now.0
