Just browsing through some bookmarks about soymilk and the main thing is has less fat & protein than cow's milk, so it's just making sure that his food intake focuses on this (meat, nut butters, avocado, oils). All the other vits are pretty much the same between the 2. :) (btw, Finn's not allergic or anything, I just personally have ethical issues with cow's milk so I've done a bit of research into viable alternatives in addition to breastmilk)

We didn't go ASDA earlier, because took a wrong turn and wound up at Tesco instead! :rotfl: But after we started shopping, I wish we had carried on to ASDA as all the prices seemed high and they didn't have half the stuff I wanted :(.

Arnie I'm the same way - Husband is also a trained chef and I rarely cook because his is always much better and I get embarrassed. Plus if I do cook he hangs around the kitchen trying to offer advice, he thinks he's helping but what he's actually doing is annoying me.

hmm I often get jealous of my friends with husband/partners that cook but I don't like criticism! - maybe I'm the lucky one? :rotfl: Hubby eats pretty much anything, I even make him eat stuff he doesn't like! :p

r.mac I've only just started doing CFR stuff but the butternut risotto I did last night was lovely, quick and easy. Don't tell Weezl but we had a bit of steak with ours :shhh: I'm tempted by orange cake next but it involes making your own marmalade if you do it right, I'm scared of jam type things :o I worry about sterilising the jars, i'm convinced they'll explode in the oven or something.

I can't cope with OH in the kitchen when I'm cooking. I'm a liability anyway, and he distracts me, and I'm rather fond of my fingers. He is a good cook though (he ought to be, it's his surname :p)

Aless, I'm getting a bit weird about dairy again, I didn't use it for ages at one point. Once you throw in the breastmilk connection, it does make it feel somewhat strange.

red - thanks will start there. We like risottos :D

SS - you are the present whizz aren't you? A friend organised her hubby a wonderfully thoughtful present - a trip to the hometown of his fvourite sports team to see them play their biggest rivals with the necessary tickets/flights/accomm etc. It was a total surprise. I'd love to do something really thoughtful for DH this christmas. He's a nightmre to buy for and I can't think of a copy-cat equivalent of the above ;) Have you any inspiration to guide me. Oh and as I'm a SAHM, it can't cost too much or I'll have to ask him for the money :rotfl: now there's a challenge.

Oh and I've joined a random FB group all about squirels. Such cute creatures, you should all join.

sami - you can wash the jars in a dishwasher to steralise then put oven on lowest setting and pop them in for 5 mins until they are completely dry. Very easy. I promise they won't explode.

*if you are scared of marmalade, the *don't tell W* but try with a mamade tin the first time, then progress to using your own fruit when its the right season (jan) ;)

oh that doesn't sound too scary :) I was thinking of doing that 2nd thing too ;) :silenced:

oh and isn't your hubby into rugby? some clubs have ways of getting a card sent to someone signed by all the team if he supports one, not sur eif that is of any use to you.

I was scared of making my own jams/marmalade, but I'm happy to report no exploding jars here. I just use old jams jars from the shop and they are just fine. Wash with hot water, pop in 100 C oven for 5 minutes, fill with hot jam, bingo! Or if you don't want, I will also just do a 1/2 batch of the marmalade and store in tupperware in the fridge for us to eat immediately.

bexta - I've not been brave enough to eliminate dairy (love cheese so much :o) completely from my own diet, but I don't drink milk anymore and just don't like the unnaturalness of it plus cow welfare issues.
