EA, lactose intolorance generally gives a bloated tummy, very bad wind, mucky nappies, or in kids without nappies they often have accidents. Bad breath is another sign. Ben got bad tummy cramps.

Thanks. I am being paranoid then :o:o

SS, we have no routine really. Its more just go with the flow here.

We know what time she wants her bottles and food, and sometimes naps. I think where im feeling so rough, i just want to lay on the sofa and sleep all day, but we should be going swimming soon a few times a week, so i'll have to factor that in :D

Question for those whose babies have Eczema:
Lilys eczema was getting alot better, hardly any break outs at all.
Now suddenly she is covered it in, her arms are so rough and red.

I was thinking, it has appeared since i have been sharing my breakfast with her. Which has cows milk in.
I was under the impression that they could have small amounts of cows milk over 6 months?

Could she be lactose intolerant? Or am i over thinking things?

My brother was lactose intolerant and his showed up through eczema.

EA - as tara said lactose intolerance is bloaty belly, mucusy poos etc... Eczema can be triggered by many different things - dairy being one of them. Has anything else changed? have you used a new soap powder? Had the heating on?

Just keep applying her creams, if it doesn't improve or get weepy get her checked over.

EA - cows milk is a known trigger for eczema, my boys don't have it we use goats milk, they re fine with having cheese in things but I only give goats milk and yoghurt to them.
The very best is sometimes what nature gives us for free.

Well she has recently had 3 new foods; chicken, wheetabix and mango.
    Thats about it really.

She hates me rubbing cream on her now she can move about, she must think im trying to hold her down :rotfl:

I've never tried goats milk, does it taste different?

It doesn't matter so much now as she's only 7months, but when she's drinking milk at 1 i will have to look into something different if its triggering the eczema.

It tastes a bit goaty, I have used it when we ran out of cows milk and found its fine cold with cereal when the sugar/choc/fruit in cereal kinda hides it but neither I nor OH can stand it in tea/coffee the heat really brings out that goaty farmyard taste :rotfl:
The boys are fine with it though, I was worried about Chris not liking it as he was 3yo when we made the switch but he was fine.
I haven't searched very hard but I could only find info saying that whole cows/goats/sheeps milk is ok for under 2's nothing about soya/rice/oat milk

  • EA - L flares up within hours. You can see him getting agitated and making moves to itch. It's worse now his bedtimn routine takes the best part of an hour with him being naked whilst 2 different creams are applied and left to soak in. He run into the kitchen and sits ont he floor itching his feet.

I really hope it isn't a dairy reaction - it's horrible. It could be something as simple as it suddenly changed temperature...or teething. L is worse when teething and the HV told me it can have an effect!

Its only me that drinks milk anyway, and we only have milk hot in hot chocolate :)

My laptop just switched itself off, a blue screen appeared telling me something went wrong, and it logged me out of MSE. It never usually logs me out of mse.
It only happened when i googled AVON, i think it was warning me not to spend money :rotfl:
  • Sami - we are using soya under the instruction of the community nurses and our GP. We have our appointment with the dietician when we should know more. I know there are reports of soya affecting little boys and their "swimmers" in later life. I think L should also be on some kind of vitamins to make up for the lack of milk, cheese etc in his diet
