i find singing (although i cant) brings on words, Charlie sings most songs that are in the stero now and will shout at me to 'up a bit' when he wants it louder or 'over' to change songs!

Then singing a song over and over again slowly missing out words that they will fill in!

*hugs* for Caz - hope it goes ok tomorrow

Can I get away with dressing up as batgirl for an 80s themed fancy dress party? The batman film was 1989 but batgirl wasnt actually in it. The 60s tv show was shown all through the 80s tho. I reckon it would be a nice easy costume, esp with capes being readily available atm.

I had to lose ours ... the older two hadn't had one, but someone gave me one for DS3, and he became a complete nightmare: he HAD to have this step seat, he HAD to have his legs supported, he HAD to go Right Now but couldn't without the step seat, and so on.

The times I spent squatting in grotty toilets, holding his little legs while he gave a cursory grunt and then said he couldn't go, only to repeat the process 5 minutes later ...

In the end we went cold turkey. We were going on holiday to France, and there was no way I was putting it in the car - there was no way it would FIT, apart from anything else!

And I got DH to put it in the shed before we went. ;)

It was a bit of a struggle, but eventually gravity and congestion moved his bowels, and he was fine by the time we got home.

However, a few months later the lady I'd got it from found she was expecting a Happy Surprise, so I cleaned it up and took it back to her. DS3 saw it in her loo, and said "That's my toilet seat!" I swear he'd have taken it back home if I'd let him! :rotfl:

He was only about 4, btw, so I'm not sure what other methods I'd use when they were older. A stool is definitely a good idea, would she go for star charts / rewards / bribery? I'd talk about it too: I know it's a common fear with young children, but it's not really a rational one, is it?

Just wondering, does your current loo seat have a particularly wide opening? They do come in slightly different shapes and sizes, may be worth looking at the options!

  yipppeeee you still lurk! Hello! I've now got a 20 month old and I'm DOING A GREAT JOB (with lots of help from the people on here ;) )

quickly back on, Charlie is absolutly fine although he does say it is sore. The hospital was a complete joke and i ended up leaving, 2.5 hours from entering until the triage actually looked at him. He has no contact with any staff from entering until that point. He began to perk up after a while and when i asked if there was somewhere i could get him something to eat i was pointed to a sweetie machine!!

Staff were not interested so when in triage i asked if they would actually do anything to which i was given a blank look. I told her i was going to take him home as it had now been 3 hours and he was needing to have his dinner and be put to bed. she told me it was up to me so i left.

He is obvioulsy fine as he had some dinner and is nowjumping on his bed? he also told me i was a baby! i guess he is fine. I did get a huge fright and even the ambulance men looked shocked!
thanks for thinking of us and i think i am going to collapse in a heap somewhere

ETA when i asked if i should check him through the night she shrugged her shoulders!! obviously i will be checking him and i think i will use the other hospital in future!

eeeeeekkk. We learned after our first A&E experience, to go straight to the sick kids. Probably a bit far for you in tht situation though
:( Hugs for your stressful day. Sounds like he's doing okay now.

Well had a busy weekend, The Goo Food show was amazing. I can't tell you how fabulous a time I had. I feel excited and inspired and my mum bought some brilliant presents :D

LO had a lovely time with DH, who mnaged to NOT call his parents :j I'm so pleased. But she's given me the cold shoulder today - until I needed to cook tea of course :rotfl:

  • Well it's not often that I'm the last one on! Pretty much done in my kitchen now although I decided to gloss the inside of the exernal door and that will need another coat tomorrow. I'm so tired though, been a while since I had a full on day of manual work.

Hope all babies, mummies and daddies are sleeping soundly and continue to do so until at least 8am!

See you in the morning x

How was your night? I hope Charlie is ok!

GILL I am glad the Christening went well. I am sure there will be loads of nice photos taken

My little monster woke up screaming at 4.40 and wouldn't go back down *yawn*. I think it is an almost through tooth number 7 that is the culprit... He has had his breakfast already so I hope he will go down for a long nap soon....

I hope the rest of you had a more civilised awakening!
