Hi, my company has a cleaning service for my overalls but I have to wash my company logo'd tshirts myself (5 per week), is it worth attempting a claim for this and how much should I claim?

No, they pay if your company has a laundry service, regardless of whether you use it.

sorry, can you expand on this, your answer seems a bit contradictory :)
as I stated above, the laundry service is not contracted to clean the company supplied logo'd tshirts

i would be able to claim for the last 6 years + this year as i work in school with a uniform which i wash, on saying this in the office 2 of the lads which do SR said dont do it you will end up doing SR's after claiming.

what is the norm for post claiming, do people get the money back only to have the hassel of SR just because you claimed some money back.. e.g. IR giving you a tick box for getting money out of them...??

views and replys please before i send off and wake the beast.

Ah .. right. Standard Rate seemed a bit outdated.

If you claim the laundry allowance you only have to 31st Jan to claim back 6 years .... HMRC are scaling back to 4 years in stages up to 5th Apr 2012.

But - they're not going to put you into SA for that reason. Otherwise they'd be doubling the SA population. It's simply an addition to your Personal Allowance and all dealt with by coding into PAYE.

    Hi all,

I posted my tax letter re. washing uniform some weeks back. I received my reply today detailing the change of my tax code from 747L to 755L.

    So thats a start.

However they do not mention anywhere about a rebate for previous years despite me specifically requesting one and asking how much it would be.

Has anybody else had this? Should I expect a seperate letter? Should I write to them again?!

    Any advice greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!!

That's an increase of £80 in allowances - so is just for the current year. It's on a P2 (Coding Notice) so doesn't facilitate freehand info about the rest of the claim?

Expect some P8oos in the next few days detailing earlier years + (seperately) a cheque.
