As I have said above, its open to anyone to claim for expenses incurred in doing their job. If he doesnt think he comes under 'plumbing', then he needs to formulate his own claim. HMRC will accept anything reasonable.£705,000 raised by client groups in the past 18 mths :beer:0

hi, just wondering my sister works part time as a cook in an old people's home she wears cook's trousers (not with a company logo) provided for her but just a normal tshirt. Would she be able to claim ?0

This is good to know! I think my mate will be very interested. She works in a nursery and they have to wear a special uniform.:hello:  please play nicely children !0

looie, your sister comes under a worker in the food industry, for which there is a fixed rate deduction.
You need to understand that the fixed rate allowance is not just about laundry of workwear - its designed to cover things like safety gear, tools, special shoes, etc.£705,000 raised by client groups in the past 18 mths :beer:0 -

I found out about this just a couple of months ago. Unfortunately there is no pre-determined claim amount for my "profession" at the moment and me and my colleagues are waiting for HMRC to gather data and make a decision on what we can realistically claim.
I'm a binman for referenceIt looks set to be around £6 per week, which will be a nice little sum for me after it's backdated for the 3 years i've been working. Certainly worth doing.

I was having a little difficulty finding the address for my tax office so thought I'd post the Tax Office locator for those who are having the same problem.
You can either enter your Employer Payer Reference (Tax Ref) e.g. 123/AB45678 which can be found at the top of you pay slip.
or
Your three-digit office code which can be found at the beginning of the Employer Payer Reference number e.g. 123/AB45678.0 -
