Do I need my employers address on the letter?
Do I need the employers Tax ref on there?

I am a coastguard officer full time and have to wear and launder a uniform. We do not seem to be on the list from the uk tax office, though the fire and police are, no surprise there though I guess  no one seems to know we exist lol. I have sent off the template letter anyway worth trying.0

I`ve only just found this
wish i`d known when i was working as a nurse Grr!
Now my DH works fulltime, uses a uniform (logo and special clothing) which has to be laundered everyday as it is always yucky! (refuse worker)
I can`t see his job description on the table/chart to see how much his entitled too?!
So how do we find this out please?DebtFree FEB 2010!Slight blip in 2013 - Debtfree Aug 2014 :j

If your job is not listed on the HMRC website, first of all check with your union whether there are any locally agreed allowances. If not, then its down to you to make a claim for what you consider is reasonable.£705,000 raised by client groups in the past 18 mths :beer:0

Hi guys, this is all very interesting reading... have worked out what hubby can claim thanks to fengirl
Just wondering if my brother in law can make a claim... he works for Dyno-rod - very smelly work! He is supplied with overalls & clothing which he washes daily, he buys his own safety boots.
Can he claim the laundry expense? if so how much? or is there a flat rate expense he can claim which would include the laundry...
Thank you0
