Does anyone have a copy of the latest letter they have sent to claim tax back?

The ones at the start of this tread are a fair few years old now.

I have been working for about 7 years with company uniform on.

I would suggest you come under 'engineering - all other workers', so the allowance is £60 for years to 04/05 and £80 thereafter.

You need to quote your NI number and tax reference and sugest you write.

'I am writing to claim the fixed rate expense allowance for 'all other workers in engineering' for all years from 2003/4 onwards. I am an IT engineer and am provided with a company uniform whci I am requireed to maintain. Would you please send me a payabe order for the years to 2008/09 and alter my code number for the current year.'

No, you send the letter to your own tax office - the reference number will be on your P60 and the address can be looked up at https://www.hmrc.gov.uk

I put a claim in for the past 6 years (for uniform and other work related things). Rather than a nice fat cheque or big rebate they have changed my tax code! Its gone from 675L to 821L. They have added £1460 as 'early years adjustment' which is to be refunded through my wages, presumable on a month to month basis.

I wish they'd have given me a cheque.. much easier for me to work out my rebate and I have a 6% savings account I could have placed it in. I'll never be able to work out if I've been rebated the correct amount.

I wonder why some get a cheque and I didn't?!
