In the template letter on here it says
I have been employed at Company Name, Location since (Date of Starting at Employment). I am obliged to launder the uniform, which is supplied to me by the company. I therefore wish to claim an expenses allowance of £60 for each year since the above date.

RE: Expenses Allowance
I have been employed at ***************** since 15th May 2007. I am obliged to launder the uniform, which is supplied to me by the company.
I would also like to backdate my claim for the following previous employers who supplied a uniform that I was obliged to launder at home:
******************* where I was employed from 3rd January 2005 until 30th November 2006.
************************ where I was employed from 7th July 2003 until 10th November 2004.
I therefore wish to claim an expenses allowance of £60 for each year since 7th July 2003.Became Mrs Scotland 16.01.16Became homeowners 26.02.16

The company that i work for issue cleaning tokens for cleaning uniforms.
However i always wash my uniform at home, it`s always a pain chasing down the person who issues the tokens and our nearest cleaners is not convenient to get to, also it would mean a couple of bus rides or paying for more petrol to get to the cleaners in the first place as it`s nowhere near my normal route.
Bearing in mind that tokens are available does anyone know if i would quilify for the tax reduction instead?

You would not be able to claim a flat rate expense from HMRC, because your employer provides you with a facility to have it washed.0 -
I have been looking at the HMCE website recently to put a claim in for tools, trousers and boots that my DH has to buy for his job. His workplace offers to clean his jacket and overalls but he is allergic to the chemicals they use so i have to boil wash them most nights (he is in construction). Do you think I can still claim for washing or even a percentage?0

In my previous job I had had to wash my own uniform, can I still claim even though I have left the employ of the company? Can I get the full allowance backdated for the full 8 years I worked there?
Also is the figure of £60 a standard set figure and is it taxable or after tax???
Excellent idea guys0 -
My husbands coding shows £60 flat rate job expenses - this relates to trousers he has to buy for work - Bosch trousers with kneepads as he is a carpet fitter. They cost around £40 per pair and he goes through a couple of pairs a year.
Is there an extra amount which can be claimed for laundering of these trousers and company logo t-shirts or is the £60 flat rate job expenses the most they wil give you?

Hi thanks for your reply
i recently enquired about cleaning tokens at work as i`ve not used them for years and was told that we are entitled to 3 tokens per month
I work full time and wear 3 pieces of uniform every day, i can manage to wear 2 parts of the uniform more than once.
If i were to just use the 3 tokens provided by the company then no one would want to be anywhere near me :rotfl:
Considering the above does anyone think that it would be possible to claim the cash to do my own laundering?
Thankyou.
