thanks
You can claim back to the 2002-03 tax year at present. Just write to the tax office you deal with now and ask to claim back the tax relief. You will need to state who you were working for, what dates you were there, your job title and that you had a logo'd uniform that you had to launder at home.0 -
Im new to this idea! Do you have to work fulltime to do this or can anyone with logo uniform claim?Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults0

Your hours make no difference. As long as you work for a company where a logo'd uniform is required and they do not provide laundering facilities then you can claim tax relief. You can claim for this tax year & 2007-08 by telephone. For years prior to that, you need to put the claim in writing.0 -
I havent read the whole thread in detail but have skimmed over it. So just to summarise is the following correct?
Your uniform has to have a company logo on it
You can can tax relief on £60. So if I write my letter and send it off now my tax code will increase by the £60 for this year.
I will get a tax refund on previous years I am claiming on up to six years previous
Is that right?0 -
This is not really a uniform issue - the fixed rate expense deduction is given according to your job. Please go to www.hmrc.gov.uk and search for fixed rate deductions and then search for your trade or job. You can claim the releif for up to 6 years back.
if your job is not shown, then you need to negotiate with your tax office as to how much you should be allowed for whatever the work expense is.£705,000 raised by client groups in the past 18 mths :beer:0 -
I work for Tesco as well and the address you need to send your letter to is as follows:-
Inland Revenue
Saughton House
Broomhouse Drive
Edinburgh
EH11 4XG
(Tax reference code 847/T1)
This is the correct address to send to for Tescos employees. I'm not sure what it'd be for other employees.
thanks for this we all found out about this this week when a union rep came in store but do you have to be in the union to get this if any one could reply then thank you in advance0 -
No, you don't need to be a union member to claim this deduction. The deductions are normally negotiated betwen the unions and HMRC, but expenses allowances apply to all workers.£705,000 raised by client groups in the past 18 mths :beer:0
