If you have not heard from them (been about 5 weeks now), should I write back with the same letter?0

i get on really well with my boss and i dont want to rock the boat by getting him a charge.
It's a tax code allowance. You pay less tax.0 -
cool im getting my girlfriend to do this asap.
another thing i need to ask is i work in a timber yard and my mate at work said he claimed in his last workplace for supplying his own workwear. im not sure how much he gets off his tax but he said you can back log that 6 years too. ive been there for 5 years now and had to buy my own work clothes. can i claim that back too? it isnt overalls or anything. i wear jeans and t-shirt to work but i have to buy them myself.0 -
would this apply to me then? i have worked at two fast food places when i was a bit younger, therefor had to wash my uniform daily, also the company i am with now require me to look presentable and clean but only give me 4 shirts which is ok, but i only have one jacket and coat (which are required to be dry claened at my own expenss) one pullover and one skirt, also if we want to wear a skirt we have to provide our own flesh coloured tights, which usually need replacing each day as being out by aircrafts all day tend to make them dirty by then end of shift, and if we want to wear pants we have to provide our own. we also have to provide our own shoes. all the uniform is labled with a compamy logo on it, however what would happen about the tights, trousers and shoes? we have to provide them ourselves. maybe worth a go anyways, but what would I write?0

Work wear has to be something with a company logo that you would not be able to wear elsewhere.0 -

That would be covered.however what would happen about the tights, trousers and shoes? we have to provide them ourselves. maybe worth a go anyways, but what would I write?
As everyone wears these, you would not get a tax deduction for them.
Basically anything with a company logo is fine, anything that doesn't is not.0 -
Friend mentioned this to me at work i work for Sainsburys in the warehouse for the past 7 years and have to wash my own uniform would i qualify for this?? would they adjust my tax code ? Sorry if this has been asked lots tried searching for it. Also do i just send it off to the tax office name on my P60 west hampshire area? Or my local branch in Leicester0

I think , if you look on the fixed rate deduction list, warehouse staff are listed on there. You just need to write to the tax office on your P60, but don't send the P60 at this stage in the year.£705,000 raised by client groups in the past 18 mths :beer:0

Thanks for the reply i didn't relise you had to send the P60 with the letter?0
