Hi - I work in a hotel and have to wear suits or "business attire" and purchase and launder them myself. Would you think I would be entitled and if so do they contact your employer or is it discreet?
have you read the guide at all?
you have no chance0 -
I'm a nurse and have been for past 5+ years. Having never claimed before and after reading other peoples comments, I phoned the 0300 number for tax office. Spent about 10 minutes on the phone to claim for uniform, socks and shoes and have just received a cheque for £90 - less than a week after calling! Very pleased!0

Reading this page, I thought my husband could possibly qualify. He rang the 0300 number and got over £400 of tax free amount adjustment through his tax code. £80 will come in handy next payday :j0

Unsuccessful here
letter back saying, you have already received tax relief on years 2010 to 2015?!

This thread has given me an idea;). To earn myself a bit of extra dough I could offer to wash the uniforms of local emergency service workers. The thought of firemen and paramedics coming round with their clothes is making me dizzy:). I can picture one doing a nick kamen in my hallway.:rotfl::rotfl:Britain is great but Manchester is greater0

If its a condition of your employment then you could argue its constitute a uniform good luck.
there is a very famous legal precedent ("the wig case") involving a barrister claiming for clothing. The judgement was that a barrister's wig counts as uniform since it would not be worn outside court however other clothing counts as "everyday wear" irrespective of whether it is (by choice) not worn outside of the work environment
that principle establishes that a suit is every day clothing

Hi all,I did this following advice on here and just got a rebate of £60 plus I have been informed that I now will save £60 a year in tax from now on,it was easy to apply and needed no receipts, just a bit of a pain filling in separate forms for each year, luckily I only had to do 3 so not too bad,but well worth doing it just to save money in coming years.0
