Hopefully someone will be along soon as this is not my thing really, but its possible another letter of calculation is sent separately.
You could give them a ring just in case perhaps. The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
I sent a letter to them and managed to get a back dated payment for my 6 years at work and they changed my tax code. £250 well thank you hmrc0

Just a word of caution - I tried to clam for uniform cleaning on behalf of my partner and he was sent a tax bill instead. Apparently when he lost his job and went onto Employment and Support Allowance both his employer and the government were giving him a tax allowance, which he should of only received from one of them. This was the explanation given to us and though we knew nothing about this and it was not his fault by trying to claim for his uniform cleaning this came to light and now they want him to pay them £80 back!0

They would have eventually asked for the tax owed anyway.0 -
Thanks to all for all of the information on this thread, and the guide.
I called HMRC and asked them if this had already been applied before I wrote in. The guy on the phone couldn't have been more helpful. He applied it to this year, and adjusted it for last years too...
I got a rebate in my pay of £84!!
Thanking you one and all

Hi, just wondering the best way of coming to a realistic figure for reclaiming as my job type is not on the list I work in traffic management, so full hi vis, trousers, T shirt and long sleeve vest, water proof trousers and coat when the weather turns.
We get access to no washing facilities or any subsidy and most have to be washed seperately to other clothes due to possible running of colour and tar.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I dont want to be to cheeky but £12 a year standard doesn't come close.
Thanks in advance0 -

laundry of PPE at your expense is £60 allowance

you may of course try for more .....

but note the warning therein - HMRC will fight you to prove your actual cost0 -
Hi all,
Just curious if I can actually apply for this and would greatly appreciate someones adivce and guidance.
I work in the IT dept. of an office building and am provided with protective/heavy duty work pants (the ones that accomodate knee pads) and polo shirts that I have to launder myself.
Neither of these have a company logo on at the moment (they are currently purchasing some polo shirts with the company logo on for me) but I certainly wouldnt wear any of these for anything other than work.
So basically, do I still qualify and how do I work out how much I should ask for in the template given in the starting post.
Thank you in advance.0 -
I'm typing up a claim for my OH just now, but I am a bit confused. He is a mechanic, so can he claim more than the standard £65? This link
http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/manuals/eimanual/eim32712.htm
says £120?
Also, should he actually get a rebate of £120 / £65 or is it 20% of that (as a basic rate tax payer)?
thanks! :j0 -

once you get loo'd workwear then you can claim
just because you choose not to wear it outside work does not make it a qualifying uniform, no more so than I can claim for the suit I only wear to work because that is our compulsory dress code0
