  • Hi All!

I encouraged the missus to write to her tax office using the previously suggested letter format, as she works for a bank with supplied uniform, but she finally got the reply:

"As your claim does not fall within the criteria applicable as it has no identifiable, additional cost, your claim has been declined."

Anyone else had this response at all?

    Cheers for all the tips!
  • Hi Folks

I have also claimed for washing my uniform, your best bet is to ring your tax office, they sorted it out for me over the phone and faxed the details to the company i work for.

Does anybody know of anything els we can claim for?
    Every little helps.

    Trucker.
  • I've sent the letter off and they've changed my tax code for this year, which adds £45 to it, but I don't think can help as I've just left work after a years maternity. They also sent me a letter saying they wanted my p60's for the last few years, which I don't think I've kept, so don't think I'll be seeing any of this money :(

I'm going to look for logo's now as all my sons have uniforms for work ( and my daughter in law to be).

3 work for mcdonalds and I know the crew have logos but I dont know about the managers - will have to check as it costs a fortune to launder their clothes - they get filthy with all the cleaning they do.

Would I be able to claim? I work for Starbucks and I wear a polo shirt with the logo on which I was myself butttt we don't have to wear the polo and can wear a black shirt with no logo on if we want so would that void my claim as i'm not being forced to wear the logo?

    Uniform Washer
    Got a result today.

My hubbys tax code has been altered, and they have backdated it 6 years. £60 better off. :j Works out at £10 per year but better in our pocket than the tax office.

    Thanks to Deanos.

No because you can use a suit for personal use also.
