Fab! Thankyou to this thread - I wrote a letter for my OH on the 12th April - he received his cheque today! But they are also requesting his P60 for this year to send him another cheque for this year (I don't know why this is). The breakdown of how it is calculated should be sent shortly apparently.
Thankyou folks!:T (although I doubt I will get a share:D!)0 -
Haha not sure my waist line would agree!0

Just a quick question, I applied for the uniform'laundry allowance and requested the 'back payment/tax rebate' to be paid by cheque, this was all back in early March.
Today I received a new tax code which included an additional £60 allowance for laundry costs. Does anybody know if that means I'm unlikely to receive a cheque? Or could a cheque possibly arrive from a different department at a later date. I find all this a bit confusing. Thanks in advance for any help.
I think unless you specifically requested a cheque as opposed to your tax code changing - it was calculated in your tax code - but then you did....so maybe its for next year which sounds about right? I think Martin's post on this said something like that - which is why i wrote in my OH's letter that could they send a cheque as once they start messing around with tax codes, I never know what on earth they are doing! (nor will he more importantly!!! :rotfl:). I would phone them to make sure - you can never be sure what the IR are up to!!!!!
I did also say in my letter could they not change any subsequent tax codes and could all payments be by cheque - he hasn't had any notifications of a change of tax code (yet) - so maybe this will work???!!0 -

It means the opposite - provided you were claiming for more than just this year. £60 is the minimum - so that is for the current year. The earlier year(s) will be calculated on a P800 (PAYE assessment) and a cheque for the repayment sent separately to the assessment calculation. If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -

The P60 can only be for last year? Which suggests (employers have until 19th May) they don't yet have the pay / tax details for 11/12. Year 12/13 (the current year) will always be via a Code adjustment. If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -
Just wondering if anyone could help with where to find the address of my tax office? It's 'lothians area', I can't find an address anywhere online. Thanks0
