I don't quite see the point of that??

You claim for this tax year and back to 08/09. You ask for a cheque for the years 08/09, 09/10, 10/11 and 11/12.

This year's ( 12/13 ) tax code will be adjusted so that this year and future years will receive the allowance.

I get ya!! Sorry, having a slow moment :)

My main question in my last post:

Confused! It even states you can claim for past 6 years and the current year on this site, by Martin Lewis' people:

Just wondering whether they are right, or you ?! Why is it not clearer

It's out of date. As from 6th April it became 4 years.

Your link doesn't exist by the way.

Here's the up-to-date info from HMRC.

  • I've had a look at the tables to see what tax refund I would get if reclaiming laundry costs.

Am I right in thinking for someone in the Food Industry, it's £60 per year?

Do you get £60 back for each year or is it a tax percentage of that?

    Thanks for any answers :)

It's the tax percenatge you get back so 20% or 40% of £60.

I received a rebate of money for the past 5 years but this has been given as a recoding for this year. There is a significant chance I'll end up earning just under my standard personal allowance this year so won't get the benefit of the lump sum repayment that has been coded into this year's allowance.

If I get to next April and haven't paid tax for the year, will I be allowed to apply for a cheque? I asked them for a cheque in my original letter but was still sent a recoding notice instead.

Personally I would send the Coding Notice back now and ask for the refund via cheque (with the explanation as above). That way only the 12/13 allowance is prejudiced if you earn below the (enhanced) personal allowance.

I work for a company that supplies us with shirts with the company logo on. Would I qualify for this being a uniform?

Do you both have to wear and launder them? If 'yes' to both - then it counts.

Thanks, we do have to wear them for certain meetings with clients. However it's not mandatory for anything else. Do they check with the company to confirm that it is mandatory?

We do have to launder them at home.
