Am I right or have I missed something?
The Codes you quote are certainly the basic ones for those years. As HMRC seem to be of the impression he is still on an enhanced Code - send them the P60s for the years in question. Send the originals - keep copies. If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -

Which suggests there's £80 more in there than basic. It's not 100% certain that's the uniform allowance - but looks to be the case. You should have a P2 (Coding Notice) somewhere that will tell you specifically? If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -
Many thanks, I`ll have a hunt round to see if I can find a coding notice0

I received the reply from the tax office today saying that the relief has already been allowed 2010/2011 to date and there is nothing further they need to do. However it seems to me that it hasn't or the tax code would be different. Am I right or have I missed something?
810L is the normal basic tax code so yes you would expect it to be different.
I would phone up HMRC saying that you have been told a uniform allowance is being applied so could they explain where it is in your tax code. If you don't get a satisfactory answer, send off the P60s as Mike suggested.0 -
I enquired with my local tax office about uniform tax rebate for the last 6 years but received a letter stating that laundry relief for Royal Marine Officers is given through the net pay scheme. I wasn't disputing this but called my office to let them know I wasn't an officer, but they still thought all the military came under the same bracket. Can anyone clarify this?0

It's the line HMRC always take. Earlier post :

I've read the threads but I'm still a little confised as to how many years I can claim for laundering uniform expenses.
I've worked for the same company since April 2003 and never claimed any expenses before.
Is it true I can claim for the previous 6 years, in addition to the current tax year, so I would be claiming for:
TAX YEAR
1) 2012 - 13 (current tax year)
2) 2011 - 12 (previous tax years)
3) 2010 - 11
4) 2009 - 10
5) 2008 - 09
6) 2007 - 08
7) 2006 - 07
Also, is it correct that I either request a cheque payment or for it to be deducted from the current tax year?
Thanks for any advice0 -

No you can only claim back to 08/09 now. Also, is it correct that I either request a cheque payment or for it to be deducted from the current tax year?

You can request a cheque. Current tax year code will be adjusted though.0 -
No you can only claim back to 08/09 now.
Confused! It even states you can claim for past 6 years and the current year on this site, by Martin Lewis' people:

You can request a cheque. Current tax year code will be adjusted though.
So if I do not include the current tax year on my claim, and instead claim for it next year, would I get a cheque then?0 -

I don't quite see the point of that??
You claim for this tax year and back to 08/09. You ask for a cheque for the years 08/09, 09/10, 10/11 and 11/12.
This year's ( 12/13 ) tax code will be adjusted so that this year and future years will receive the allowance.0
