he has laundry sacrifice, each month they take an amount off of him (the amount varies monthy), they then give him the same amount back (under the heading laundry pay non-tax).
Is he already in receipt?
I can't work that one out. Why would there be a laundry sacrifice which is simply handed back?
Either ask his employer - or check his Code number which should (year 11/12) be 747L. If more than that there's an allowance likely included. But if nothing included - you still need to check out the 'laundry allowance' via pay. As HMRC won't allow anything - if the employer already provides facilities / allowance. If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -
my eligible colleagues have had theirs by cheque.
So - HMRC have added in the £45 allowance (to 08-09) and the £60 from that point - and done a total recalculation on each year. Which will account for the varied amounts .... as some will have small PAYE overpayments which that has thrown up.
Ask a couple of them to check the P800s they will have?
Can't explain why they have treated yours as a consolidated allowance increase I'm afraidIf you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -

My husband said he doesnt pay tax on it (last month it was £10.60), so he doesn't get the £10.60 in his pocket, just the benefit of not paying the tax on that sum if that makes senseStarted comping again Sept 2013

I have tried to claim this twice, each time I have been told my employer doesn't have a agreement with the tax office0

Sadly I was not successful, my letter claimed I had a flat rate expense for laundering my uniform in my tax code each year from 2006-2007 and that no further relief was due to me - i'm confused!!
I applied for 6 years worth of rebate, I work at a famous high street chemist, have been there for 11 years was part time until Nov 2007 then full time ever since.
Can anyone shed any light on this?0 -
Also believe you can claim for union fee's and registration fee's , does anyone know if this is correct0

You can. Have a look at your Code number. If it's above 747 for last year .... that's likely the result of an extra allowance. You will also have had a P2 (Coding Notice) which set it out in more detail? If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -

Only if it's on the HMRC list. Covered several times over the last few pages of this thread - have a look back?If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -
I work as a Home Carer for my local council, with a logo on my tunic uniform that I have to wash.
Just give your employer details and your duties in the letter and let HMRC worry about the specific value? Not sure if you'll be £60 or £100. Pull the Employer Reference off your last P60 and include that with your NI number. If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0
