Hi,
I worked for a Retail company for almost 5 years as a sales assistant. Although, we didn't have an uniform as such, they asked us to wear black from head to toe. Can I reclaim any money?
They never paid us a penny to buy the clothes or wash them.0 -
Anyone hoping to claim tax back for 6 years will be in for a disappointment, unless you have already submitted your claim. HMRC has migrated PAYE cases to new time limits this year, aligning PAYE cases with the limits that already apply to Self Assessment cases. 2005/06 went out of date in January, 2006/07 went out of date on 31st March, and 2007/08 will go out of date at close of play tomorrow: Thurs 5th April.
From now on claims can only go back 4 years!0 -
Hi all
Just wondered if anyone would know if my husband is eligible. He wears a uniform to work, however on his payslip he has laundry sacrifice, each month they take an amount off of him (the amount varies monthy), they then give him the same amount back (under the heading laundry pay non-tax).
Is he already in receipt?
Thanks

Just a quick question to everyone who has received rebates...
I sent off a letter with employer and uniform details before Christmas and haven't hear anything yet.
I worked customer facing in uniform until 2009 and since then in uniform for Fire and Rescue Service, all of which I launder and maintain myself. Should I of heard something by now??
Many thanks!MFW £190,450/£141,1400 -
I had my letter from HMCR a few days ago. My refund is coming via an increased allowance for the new tax year whereas my eligible colleagues have had theirs by cheque. My refund is around £69 - £60 allowance at 20% tax for 6 years (plus some interest). I rang HMCR to query this as my colleagues have had refunds of £103, £190 and over £300. We are all Police support staff and all in the 20% tax bracket. I was informed by HMCR that I have been given the maximum refund and none of my colleagues should have got more than this and, if they have, they've been overpaid. Needless to say, this did not go down well with my colleagues when I told them and I'm feeling a little aggrieved! They all seem to have had different letters and got different amounts and it all seems rather arbitrary.0

Hi,
I stared at it for a while before the £173 being 50% of the overall clicked!
For £2pm ...... I wouldn't be disposed to write again. If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -

No - because you can wear black from head to toe anywhere - not just at work? If it had an outward facing logo ....... different answer. If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -
