:rotfl: mardatha, I can just see you now, pictish warrior woman with a safety pin in your nose!
I will definitely be there Swan I just don't know when so I will fit in with everyone else. It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0 -
Waverley station suits me fine- why didn't I think of that? doh!0

Under the clock?????Is there still a clock at the station????? by WHSmiths shop, knowing Mardartha it will be in the bar with a glass of you know what!!Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0

At what time? Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0

Right then, I think that's it settled that the meet will definitely be on Saturday 27th November
Feel free to all bring along partners, children, friends etc. The more the merrier!
We could meet somewhere pretty central, how about outside Starbucks on the Royal Mile? Should be fairly easy for everyone to get to and find.
did you mean the starbucks on Princes street? that would be easier for those taking the train, i'm not even sure there is a starbucks on the royal mile but it's not serviced well by busses and my knees wouldn't allow me to walk up that steep hill (or worse, down!) without much complaint.
princes street gardens are opposite all the high street shops on princes street and where most of the free activities will be
also, what time frame are we looking at? wouldn't like it to start too late in the day we will have to go home that night for certain, already have a trip planned in dec and then i have to get us back and forth to dunnoon for christmas too (my wallet is sighing at the thought already! )
edited to add: i had a look at further posts and meeting at waverly station makes a lot of sense! sounds good to me0 -
It's changed to somewhere inside Waverly station. Not set a time yet though.0

Hi all,
Am just going to book flights now.....Caterina, any news on whether your OH is coming or not?? Said to OH would he like to go to Edinburgh for weekend at the end of November and surprise, surprise he said yes, so would be happy if someone else was dragging their OH as well.....Mardatha, what about the RV, could he be persuaded do you think??
About rail ticket prices, it is apparently possible to lessen costs by booking tickets for shorter distances, making up the whole journey in total....that's badly explained but see what you can find folks, we don't have to pay for public transport here over the age of 66 and I travel free with OH until I get my free travel next year.
