I am going to have a look at train tickets and accommodation around that date - does anyone know a good hostel in Central Edinburgh? Unless Marie fancies sharing a B&B room with me (as long as you know that I snore!).

there are a gazillion travellodges in edinburgh now i'd have a look they always seem to be doing a deal, otherwise i know there is a hostel down by haymarket but i don't know their prices

i got a room at the rose street travelodge during a recent promo for 9quid and we have two nights at the learmouth one for 13 quid total in mid december!

they're cheap and cheerful nothing special but you really just need a warm place to stay right?

edited to add: caterina if you book now for the train you should be able to get a decent price. also the 27th of november sounds good to me we can make it a day out for me and the wee one she'll love an extra trip to edinburgh!

Ah thank you Confuzzled, I shall have a look at the Travelodges, although they don't always to deals on Saturdays. I haven't got a reply from DH yet and have to wait for him to decide what to do re. accommodation. Will post here again as soon as I know.
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Right then, I think that's it settled that the meet will definitely be on Saturday 27th November :D

Feel free to all bring along partners, children, friends etc. The more the merrier!

We could meet somewhere pretty central, how about outside Starbucks on the Royal Mile? Should be fairly easy for everyone to get to and find.

  • If lots of us are coming by train why don't we meet at the station, then if its wet, we're not all wandering about getting soaked?

Where is it Cara? I'm fine to get there - but one warning. (always one difficult one eh LOL ) I cant walk far or fast. But I can - and will, given half a chance - sit in a pub for hours and drink Guinness :j:j:j
EDITED- ok the station is fine :)

if you come out of the station & turn away from Princes St, you'll see Cockburn St leading up to the Royal Mile, Starbucks is directly across the road from the top of that street

but I like the idea of meeting in the station

good decision, Cockburn Street's quite steep, although I'm sure there are a couple of watering holes you could have rested in on the way up ;)
  • You lot sort out the time etc., as I said, I'm not sure what I am doing yet, and I have Swan and Marie's mobile numbers anyway.
