Just got back from town after using our free guiness pitcher and piano vouchers

We have an offer on the house!!!!! However, he has to sell his one bed flat yet for 117,000 and he's offered us 127,000, we've provisionally accepted it but we've stressed to the estate agents that we're still open to other offers as this is only a provisional offer-so it's still a waiting game i'm afraid.

HM pizza for tea, so i better get on and make the dough. My mum and i are doing weight watchers- i've managed to loose 18.5lbs but we've decided its too expensive at 6 quid a pop just to essentially go along and get weighed so we're going to go every two weeks and the week in between to weigh ourselves at boots so saving us £12/mth. So i must be good this week and NOT eat the box of choccys OH got as a thank you from work.

oh dear things have gone a bit tits up i'm afraid.
OH decided he didn't like the car, we've spent loads on it and it's still not right so he's sold it for £1000 and now wants to buy one for £3500 so all the money i've been saving to go towards paying off the mort is now going on a stupid car arrrgggghhhhhh. I'm so annoyed. So from now on everything i save is going straight to the mort so he can't get his pesky little hands on it to pay on cars. ggrrrrrr we dont even need a car really we live near the centre of town, OH cycles to work and i go by train. ho hum. I'll update the final figures later as egg money manager is down.

I'm up at this time as baby has thought of a really funny trick to do in her cot-ie flipping over onto her front then she's like a little beetle who cant get right way up so cries, so i've been up since 3 and cant sleep.

Our weight watchers experiment hasn't gone well for me-i've put on 1/2 pound over 2 weeks so i'll go every week until i go back to work.

Me DD1 used to do that, her sister isn't quite as bad (8 months) they do contort themselves though, then can't get back.

I'm feeling the same at the mo, we really need some household repairs but will wipe out money put aside for mortgage overpayments I'll see if we can put them off a while longer

It's annoying isn't it? Something always seems to crop up that you need to pay for.
Anyway, OH won over £100 on the races yest so i'm going to persuade him to put it towards our savings as i need to get them to £5000 again as the new mort depends on us having 5 grand in savings so i've been jiggling things around from the various accounts and we're about £300 short which isn't as bad as i thought.
    I have a few money saving things that i must do as i been putting them off but they all will help if i write a list it may even spur me on-here goes;
    1. Photocopy my marriage cert and send to paypal as we got married last year but haven't got round to changing my name and i have all of £15 in there i could access.
    2. Cancel HSA-have been really good so far and ive got far more back than ive paid in due to having bubs and her being in hosp for days on end but i have free dental treatment until sept so its £15/m that could be used elsewhere.
    3. Contact SKy again and ask why they're charging me £35, when they said it would be £15.

im sure there's more but baby is now on the move!! She cant crawl and screams if you put her on her front but she does a backwards bottom shuffle and she's going to bang her head.................

How awful about the baby next door, and awful for you living next to it.

We're in a similar position to you in that we're in a tiny house, however we have just made the next step and are hoping to moving into a house 2.5 times bigger than this one at some point in January. While I really hate living in such a small house and have cursed it so much over the years I keep reminding myself that it has served a purpose and meant our mortgage was managable enough for us to have a baby and still have a good quality of life while I was on maternity leave and our household therefore dropped in half and also it meant we could overpay and therefore keep more equity in the house, which has helped with the move.

    Good luck to you.

That's a good point and what I'm working on; although as a single girl my 1 bed Victorian conversion with garden gives me plenty of space. But I could have 'afforded' a bigger place. I would have had a much less favourable exchange rate though and so more of my money would be going on interest rather than OAp's.

I can see the other logic though. If you keep springboarding from property to property working your way up in value then you are paying all that stamp duty, solicitor fees, estate agents etc etc so better to just get a place you can stay with.

I know it's so hard to know what to do really.

So i've done everything on my mini list-sky didn't know why id been told it would be £15/m-as soon as i move im getting rid of them they're a waste of money-we only really want the phone line and internet and costs so much.
Anyway OH wouldn't let me have his winnings as he went down to london and spent it watching footy-humph so i need to find £400 from somewhere.
The mort is currently standing at £63,000 so at least a bit has been chipped of that. Bubs and i have stinking colds and the same cough-my poor baby.
  • You're not going to chuck them right away? Give yourself that extra cash in the pocket each month :-)

I would but i need the phone and internet and they said i was on the cheapest deal possible humph!

So i went to see the estate agents to try and get things moving a bit-wasn't too pleased to begin with that they had two large steps to get into their office so it was a struggle to get the pushchair up. Now there was no sign to say they'd help disabled people so i told them this was illegal and they could get prosecuted if a disabled person tried to get in. I could tell they weren't really listening.
They said that the bloke who put an offer in on ours hasn't had an offer yet but has had 5 viewings. Then the woman said so there's a viewing on your property this arvo isn't there, oh no thats the one further down the street. Shall we ask them if they want to see yours aswell?? Now im sure imnot being picky but surely it didn't take me to go in for them to think of that-surely if they've got 2 v similar houses on the street they'll ask the people if they want to see both?? We've only had 4 viewings so far im thinking of going with other agents...

ooohh two posts in one morning get me.....

Bubs has been up coughing most of the night so i cant sleep so what do you do when you cant sleep? You go through budjets and spreadsheets tee hee.
Noticed that council tax is staying the same this yr although next month it will be a fiver cheaper so i've slung that £5 over to the savings pot, now just need £395 to get it back up to £5K.

I realise i haven't given an update on next door-the woman split up from her boyfriend after he beat her up, she was 7mths pregnant and two days later she decided to paint her kitchen, while looking after her 13mth old. The screaming abuse at him to get out of the way was what my health visitor and i heard so called the police, she went into premature labour that night. The baby is fine apparantly and was over 4lbs when born which compared to my bubs is massive!! However, the child is weirdly living with the grandmother. Things are much quieter as i premuse she's round at her mothers most of the time, and i even heard her playing with the boy the other afternoon. Hopefully, it was the stress of living with a violent partner and the pregnancy that were making her abuse her baby, i'm hoping things are going to improve for all of them.

Anyway,on a lighter note revolution bars are doing free cocktails woo wee!!
  • Is it possible to go with as many agents as you can to get better coverage? Do you have to pay anything upfront or just if they actually sell it?
