So pleased that this first year has given everything you hoped for.
We are getting the keys to our new house a week tomorrow, and I'm excited. Part of me doesn't want the higher mortgage, but long term why stay in a house you aren't keen on, when you can afford something more suitable for the family.OPs so far £42,139

When life is getting me down I try to remember to thank God for the blessings0 -
I too live very near a Sainsburys and it is far far to easy to just pop in. I tend to just get what we need and never do a big shop. When I get one of their extra Nectar points for £30 voucher I stock up on catfood and loo roll to make the target.0

You know lilyp i always just delete my emails from nectar duh forgot they acually have vouchers on there that you just have to click on. I've also asked for another key fob that oh can use and ive downloaded the nectar tool bar to get points for searching. As if i am going to shop at sainsbugs so frequently i may as well get rewarded for it.
So it only took me over a week to find out why i couldn't overpay-as im on a fixed rate i can only overpay by setting up a direct debit so i've increased the amount i pay to £500 for that particular mortgage. It's fixed for another 10 months at 3.99%-im only increasing it by a tenner as we want to add a room in our attic, although ive been banging on about how much bigger this place is it's still only a two bed so do need more room further down the line. So i'm sort of saving up for that.
The other part of the mortgage is on 1.5% which we ported across from the previous house. I've been puzzling out how to put my figures into the mortgage overpayment calculators i've seen, as there are two different interest rates and two different finish times it's hurting my little brain to try and figure it out.0
