Just back from town-all quiet nxt door thank god.
Made an appointment to see the mortgage advisors on sat at hsbc to see how much we can actually borrow. Also i asked our butchers if he could get us some sausage skins in as we've run out and he said i can have them for a quid! This is great as i bought six packs of sausage meat from waitrose(it's just opened up in our city-they finally deem us northerners posh enough to grace us with their prescene!) for 9p each so loads of v cheap sausage based meals to come yummy!!0 -
Think it's great that you've got a Waitrose think of the unique selling point when selling your house :rotfl:
Our two local supermarkets are Waitrose and a new Sainsburys.
People think we are dead posh with those as our locals but we live near a very 'northern' city.
I hate it cos it makes food really expensive or means using the car which costs in petrol.:rotfl:Whoopsies are good thoughOPs so far £42,139

Sainsburys and waitrose oooh get you!
OH is giving up smoking for Jan-tried to get him to quit for 11 yrs but he adamently refuses-loves ciggys too much, luckily he only smokes rollys so not too expensive, however when he spasmodically gives up he goes into snack munching overdrive so when i popped to the shops last night he asked me to get him some chocolate. He normally likes frys turkish delight but i was knocked down with a feather when i saw the price-69p!!! For a chocolate bar, the rest were just as expensive so i got whispa on special offer at 45p. When did chocolate get sooo expensive, i couldn't believe it.0 -
I'm feeling so positive today-saw the mort person at hsbc on sat and he was really positive re our finances as we have no debts, small amount of savings and quite a smallish mortgage so it looks like we will get the mort we need woo woo. We can also port our mortgage across and get this it's only 1.5% so even lower than i thought! We've spent the weekend trawling the rightmove website looking for properties but it's so hard hard-after living here for so long we know what we don't want, but finding the 'perfect' house is going to be tricky. Moreover, you can't vet your neighbours beforehand!!0

SO it's been all go here. We've been painting and scrubbing all week and i have to admit the place looks great-if only it had looked like this for the past 8.5 yrs!! The estate agent wanted to put it on at 134,950 as he said it was so nice but we're going for 132,950 as the higher price is higher than some of the larger terraces for sale on our street, and we need a quickish sale It goes on right move today ooooooohhhhhhhhh it's so exciting!!!!0

Good luck cocalls!!
will have a read back thru your diary as need to do the same with my place in a couple of months and spruce it up to sell!!
I hear you on the price of chocolate- its shocking! Im sure a chocolate bar used to be only 25 or 30p!....:rotfl: my tactic is to buy the big bars/packets from somehwere like the pound shop as works out much cheaper...mind you Im not very good at rationing so not sure if it is a good plan in the long run otherwise I shall need a new clothes budget!!0 -
Sending you lots of luck for a quick house saleCurrently studying for a Diploma - wish me luck

Thanks for your good luck vibes-we have our first viewing today-v exciting but i've got some serious cleaning to do.
On the money front i haven't added anymore to the isa as i only got paid 620 quid maternity pay so that just about covered bills and my dads 60th birthday meal and pressie so im a bit skint. Someone had thrown out a 60's kerplunk game so i rescued it from their bin, (i'm always doing this you should see someof the things people throw away round here as it's such a transient place so people are always moving-i've got a great white ikea rockingchair in bubs room) which are going for 15quid on ebay so i may try and sell it to get some pennies.0 -
