After reading an article about the menopause and knowing I will be turning 44 in a few weeks,I thought it might be a good time to start preparing myself for when my time comes.
I am thinking of start taking suppliments on top of my regular multivitamin. At the moment I am looking at Fish oil and collagen.
What other tips can you ladies provide any tips to take with me on this journey to make it as smooth as possible.
Thank you

I personally didn't take anything - before, during or after the menopause because
a) I didn't know when it would happen
b) what I would be like
c) didn't really want to be adding extra things into my body if it didn't need it.
When going through it I'll admit I was moody at times (family may remember this more than me LOL, had plenty of hot flushes and night time soaks, called it my personal central heating, but was glad I didn't go down the path of supplements and got through it ok.
Not sure if it helps you or not, I'm sure someone will come along soon to give their opinion/thoughts on it, but in the end the choice will be yours.

Hi Ladies,
We have a menopause thread ongoing which you might find interesting to meander through. We have to be careful not to offer medical advice, but sharings and general chat seems Ok. Hope I've done the link properly....

how do you get your confidence back ? pre-meno I was life-and-soul-of-party now i'm like a church mouse and feel quite feeble, can't take hrt anymore as it caused blood clots , i used to be a manager with 30 staff, developed mental health problems had a 'breakdown' 4 years ago and still feel broken0

hannah its horrid not being as u remember, all i can suggest is to maybe challenge yourself to do one thing a day u think u cant and build up from there
holly i quiet agree they are the worst things for me too, its poo isnt it
hope eveyrone is doing well and enjoying some of the sunshine we have been havingWhen you know better you do better0 -
HiHolly and Hannah.Sorry you have both had bad meno experiences. There is so much involved in it all isn't there?
Hannah - have you tried some kind of confidence building? When I have had confidence at lowest ebb, I found solace in reading books on it, looking at Bach flower remedies - I think Larch is maybe for low confidence and there are a couple for fears and anxiety. Easy to research online.I think the thing is that there is no instant way back to how we 'were'. I am trying to be positive about the whole thing, see it as a change (which it is) and when something comes to whack me on the head I TRY to remember to say 'ah this too'. I think acceptance of some of it helps me and then I can choose the bits I want to try to change myself. These are just things that help me though and are in no way advice from me!
My sister is staying with us for a few days' hols. The old me would have been gadding about together all the time. The changed me needs time alone so I incorporate that into what we do. Today she has been out visiting her son and rather than rush off to do things, I've done quite a bit of meditation, walked the dogs, read a book I am enjoying. I think it helps to feel that you are looking out for yourself as best you can.

Never thought it would happen to me - felt far too young - and comments from aquaintences / collegues "you wouldnt know about this you are too young" ( I just smiled sweetly and thought it must be true ).
Time to face reality !
Few weeks of hot flushes (thats stopped)
No period for 2 months - they just stopped.
Tired
I am quite a placid person until someone pushes the wrong buttons and winds me up - put up with years of crap from part time live in boyfriend ( spent most of the time at mine then would disappear ) , who shouted a lot and called me lots of nasty names.
Finally snapped and threw him out - perhaps I will regret this as I am now alone for the first time. Just thought cant see the rest of my life like this.
I want to do things before its too late - I want the old me back .
I thought boyfiend was holding me back and stopping me from being happy.
Worried that once ive got over this i wont be the happy person i was cos of all the other changes - home is much calmer and quieter
as there is only me here but it can be lonley . Dont think i could go back to listening to the critisism.
Need confidence building again.
I should know what to do but need some advice
If I go onto HRT will this stop me having any more periods -dont want embarassing spotting /leaks in the summer !
Stop tiredness ?
Stop a tash growing
Cant really afford costly alternative therapies so is is there anything else i can get off the Dr.
Trying to go on a slimming diet and to reduce cholestoral so thats bad enough without lots of faddy extra foods - saying that is there any healthys things ( low fat) thats really work to sort out menopause probs !
Any help much appreciated:beer:0
