valli welcome (see i remembered!!) i hate the not remem bering words as i had a good vocaulary too and its not like they are hard words in can be just anything
oh i am so glad we can all laugh at the same time as exchanging stories about what we are going thru
funny enough i am freezing sat downstairs in the evening the flushes tend to be once i am in bed, but who knows that could change as i did have them during the day as well a while back.
its like u get a handle on whats happening and whats helping and wham it all changes again
i have to laugh when they say dont give medical advice in here what would be the point everyone is different even ourselves so something that works one minute does not a week later
jacks i was having periods like u say on for 14 days off for 4 or 5, then back etc it was exhausting, in the end i saw the dr and had an ablation and havent bled since, unfortunatley doesnt stop the other symptomsWhen you know better you do better0 -
:hello:,
Welcome to Valli and Rose and all lurkers,
Been awake since 4ish. Got up washed hair & have touched up my roots.
Choille, I also don't got 'red'. I've had comments like 'well you don't look hot'. So that's OK then.
Shykins - Wrapping Xmas pressies? - go for it. Blooming well organised I say While others are getting all last minute and frantic you'll be guzzling mulled wine and feeling smug.;) Sorry you have bad back probs. I find using a heated pad or hot water bottle to be very soothing indeed for my back. (Heat not always appropriate for inflammation though)
Dogcat - hope you find that ankle soon!
What with flying cats, sick dogs, and my wire chewing bunny, life is never dull.
I do often wonder how our (male) politicians would cope with all of this. What is the point of the meno? Some giant cleanse or something..
Off to collect Avon catalogues. Will slather on the slap & try to look normal. Hugs to all who are having a tough time. It will pass."Sometimes letting things go is an act of far greater power than defending or hanging on.”0 -
joyfull ugggh up since 4 but sounds like u been super organised since, i never bother with the slap unless am on a night out (ha like that happens!!)
have had back problems for many years and am in fact disabled out of work becos of them. i cant imagine how those of u who work manage with all this as well - u have my respect
ha ha could u imagine men dealing wth this - funniest thing i heard today :rotfl:When you know better you do better0 -
Hi Shykins,
My back thing is getting frighteningly painful (3 discs in neck either gone or almost gone). If it wasn't for a 'maintenance' payment from my old (well off) Mum I wouldn't manage financially. (I've been her carer for almost 20 yrs so she is v grateful). She's in a home now but still high maintenance.
I live on a v low income, but manage because I'm v frugal.
Anyway, have a good day"Sometimes letting things go is an act of far greater power than defending or hanging on.”0 -
joyfull sounds like u have similar to me. i have 3 discs in the bottom of my spine gone and degenerative back disease in the rest. then this year the dr kindly told me 2 more at the top are showing signs
are u not elegible for some sort of DLA or incapacity (or whatever its called now)? that would ease the finance problems at least. When you know better you do better0 -
Thanks for all the welcomes!
Am really looking forward to the sympathy and support...
I too carry round 'spares' during my period - and have 'the equipment' with me 24/7 for those unexpected little visits. I also carry wipes for down there, too, and use external and internal protection! Happy days! (Where's the *roll eyes* smiley when you need it?)
Hoping to read through the thread at some point and pick up some tips. I too was 50 this year - seems to be a popular age! Where DID the time go?Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Hi all, it’s a good job I work flexi time as I can’t get to sleep until late at night and then want to sleep in in the mornings. I am aching again this morning and got the sore breasts.
On another note, what do you ladies use for facial make up during hot flushes? I have used liquid foundation for years but now it tends to just slide off my face. I don’t like mineral powders either, only pressed powders. I like to look glowy but not shiny.0 -

After 25 yrs of back trouble, was only diagnosed with this 2 weeks ago, so I'm still digesting the news. With all the tests you need and the tightening up of these benefits I am sceptical about whether I would 'qualify'. I will, though, bear it in mind, and see what happens. Right now, I'm managing - just...."Sometimes letting things go is an act of far greater power than defending or hanging on.”0 -

I only use dabs of foundation on' dry' areas of my face, and powder on the rest. As you say, the sweating must play havoc with an all over make-up job. Sorry even this Avon lady has no other suggestion.:("Sometimes letting things go is an act of far greater power than defending or hanging on.”0 -
I havnt read all the thread but scanned with interest, I'm not quite there yet but feel I'm heading in that direction and want to be prepared! Citygirl1, I have a couple of suggestions re the make up, the first is you could try Maybelline Mouse its very matte but it will let a slight glow through later in the day, if this dosent suit you could try good old milk of magnesia in a thin layer (shake very well first) as a primer (most primers that stop shine are made of this anyway) this would stop any shine breaking through and you could use your usual foundation as normal:)Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0
