I used to get really sore breasts pre periods & during & took oil of evening primrose & it definately did the trick for me, because if I did a month without taking it my breasts went back to being like hard bricks pre 7 during my periods.

I ache all over today & it's chucked so much rain down it is incredible.

thank goodness I have found you.
been for a blood test today because the doc says *it sounds* as if I am peri-menopausal.

I know I am sick to the back teeth of the hot flushes which are now many times in the day AND night...

skimming through the thread (note to self page 2)

I NEVER KNEW THAT MY SUDDEN INABILITY TO REMEMBER WORDS (AND I HAVE AN EXTENSIVE VOCABULARY) MIGHT BE DUE TO THIS...

    Is relieved...

Hi Vali - half the anxiety issues I had were helped just by this thread being in existence.

It is good that we can all talk about what is a major transition time in our lives.

I did think at first that some of my symptoms were due to me stopping smoking - weight gain, irritability etc.

Does anyone just sweat countless times throughout the day & night, but don't flush -as don't go red. I seem to just go into major sweat mode & am forever pulling layers off, getting cool & putting a top back on - just as well I work from home. I would disturb fellow workers & I think feel self conscious but as there is no one to see me it's okay. When out & about I know that no one knows I'm over heating so that makes me feel okay - if that makes sense. I think we have to give ourselves positive self talks. We will be fine.

    Hi Valli.
Night Teacher, I am off soon too. I will probably wake around 4.30 so don't want to stay up too late - our kids are aat school here.
I have no probs falling asleep just staying that way

Choille, my temp never seems the same as anyone else in the house and I do get sweats without the redness but they don't build up from warmth more like a flash sweat. As for when I am out, everyone seems to dress differently and often not weather appropriate and my two think it is much more cool to be without jackets so nobody would notice if I removed a layer

I started mine suddenly in 2003 during a bout of ill health ( 3 detached retinas in 6 months) .I tried HRT patches for about 2 months but did not like the side effects.
I still suffer from the bed clothes problem but not every night. My main symptom is that I suffer from severe anxiety. I have 2 children in their 20's and worry about them constantly. I also worry about getting in a lift, going through a tunnel or getting on a plane. For the night sweats there is a product called a Chillow Pillow that I found really good. HTH

I am not so much having flushes, but my temp is always really high, I cant go shopping with winter clothes on because as soon as I get into a shop the sweat literally runs down my back and my face, and I get really embarrassed. At home the other night one son had a hoody and a beanie on because I couldnt have the heating on, he is always freezing, but as told him, it is more socially acceptable for him to put layers on than for me to remove them all because the heating is on!!

Hiya fellow "Hot Ones" (I LOVE that expression!) Just popping into say Hi and send a hug to all who are struggling - especially you Heidi. Blimey, that is some schedule!

I'm 41 and always had "blink and you'd miss them" type periods that lasted 24 hours maximum.

About 3 years ago they changed and got much heavier and longer and now I'm just flooding intermittently for 10 - 14 days. Some days in the time it takes me to step out of the shower and wrap a towel around my hair and body I've made a sizeable puddle of blood on the floor and my blood streaked legs need washing again. Some days I change my pad and tampon almost hourly, and I always carry a change of pants and trousers with me if I'm "On".

I run really hot too. I'm still wandering around outside without a coat on, and other people's "tropical" central heating makes me crazy. The thermometer says it's 14 in here right now and I feel quite comfortable in socks, a nightie and a cardigan. (Ooh I'm a glamourpuss! :D)

The thing I am most worried about is that I'm shrinking. I have definitely lost an inch in height and I find that quite alarming.

    Take care all. x
