Menopause Matters

Hello to all Menos. I have been reading the thread with great interest since I am a long time member of this flippin club!
One thing jumps out at me from several posters... And that is, taking one third of the HRT tab which seems to sort out their symptoms.
Why in the name of whatsit, do the drug companies not MAKE a dose of this size? I find that totally baffling. But someone might know the answer.
Anyhow, I had an immediate menopaus. Period one week nothing ever since. A few flushes that were totally embarrassing when I chaired meetings at work etc. (they always seem to happen when you can be flippin seen!)
Otherwise I think I'm lucky. I get the flushes now and then, the itch now and then, but I HAVE TO WRITE LISTS! Or I would never do anything right. Google Calendar is my very best friend at the mo! I don't take HRT.
I sleep OK but when I do wake up before the dreaded dawn, you know, you are awake for yonks, and then go into a deep sleep just as the alarm goes off... Yes, it is the pits.
So when I wake up before dawn, I take an effervescent multivitamin from boots. Is it ok to say that? It sounds ridiculous as they are marketed to give you a BOOST, lol, but there is magnesium in them, and that helps sleep apparently. I don't care, they work for me and I'm getting loads of other vits aswell.
I must take vitamin D too. Note to self!
Wishing you all well. It is hard to be a woman. But I would not let ANY doctor fob me off if my symptoms needed treating.
I use a Well Woman Centre, they have their own doctors etc. and by pass by tit of a MALE GP, who is good for everything else, but hasn't got the empathy needed for us Menos.
Good luck everyone.0 -
Just subscribing to this thread to read it later. I've started the menopause and really struggling with horrendous sweats and flushes, day and night.0

Hi all, I need to join you, if I may.
I'm going to read back a bit and get to know posters as much as I can. I'm here looking for advice rather than being able to give any though!
I'm 50 in a few months - very overweightand working full time. I've not had children and live alone, but have always been comfortable with being a singleton.
My periods haven't been very disrupted, but I have missed one, and had one after two weeks in recent months.
The thing that has prompted me to come and join your thread is that I'm having some really scary mood swings!
I have the deepest, deepest sadness and crying which lasts about 24 hours on and off. It's a recent development so I haven't noticed a pattern yet, but I had a period at the beginning of March, felt ok until now but have just started with a mood swing last night/today.
I've just had a blood test and will get the results next week. I honestly can't see what this could be caused by other than hormones - I'm on some medication and have some family history of breast cancer so I think HRT might be out of the question.
Well that's enough blathering from me for now. Off to read up on the thread!I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

Logged back in after a few months just to find this thread! I've had enough!
I've been suffering from the sweats for a few years now. Got used to it. However, just had an unexpected new symptom.. If any of you ladies breastfed, and then in the early days spent some time away from your baby, you might remember that excruciating "full to bursting" feeling? I'VE GOT THAT! I'm also bulging out of my bra - and having to wear sports bras all the time - even in bed. I'd look great, if I didn't have to keep my shoulders so stiff as any movement makes me wince.
Another problem is consistent thrush. I think I've always been susceptible, but it would clear up when a period came. Only had two periods in about 16 months now so that's not happening. I did go to the doctor and got an oral tablet on prescription, which did clear it up but it was back within a fortnight. I got an OTC thing again on Monday, but the itch is starting again.
And the wind! I was reading that it is usual to "pass wind" 14 times a day. Not only am I achieving that hourly - the dog won't stay in the same room as me.The other half did get up the other night saying he thought he could smell burning...
Our surgery doesn't do well woman clinics.
On the bright side, no weight gain, my skin is lovely at the moment, and my hair is thick and shiny. Don't think I'm any moodier than usual but my OH might disagree.... :rotfl:
Hope my meno sisters are all coping well... :T0 -
ugh cazzie what a pain.

god who would be a woman!!!!When you know better you do better0 -

I'm 53, getting hot flushes, but still getting the monthlies
well, my cycle is actually more like 24 days, with 10 to 12 days of bleeding, and its not light either. Moods are all over the shop, and I was diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder last year too, after 40 years of emotional instability.
Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0 -
I am 51,had a hysterectomy 11 years ago and have been peri menopausal for a year.
I have always been a bad sleeper but it is worse than ever now...tried everything including sleeping tablets from the Doctor but no joy
Get phases of what I consider hot flushes
I am due to have my bloods re-tested this week so will see what results I get0 -
I am in perimenopause (GP says so). 2 years ago I tried to fight the symptoms! I didn't want to try anything artificial & so I visited susun weed's website. Lots of good sense & I will say that my aches have gone (nettle infusions), sweats disappeared (vittex tincture) however the mood swings are still something to process. I STRONGLY recommend trying her herbal infusion ideas.0

Just stumbled on this thread - hello :hello:
I'm 32 and had a total abdominal hysterectomy and removal of ovaries for endometrial cancer in July last year.
I'm dreading the warmer weather as when I get a hot flush MY GOD do I get one! HRT not an option because of the cancer. Need a miracle cure... :rotfl:*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200
