when I asked my doctor, he said really? I only prescribe it for people on repeat, nobody evers asks for it now. I said I know all the downsides but, I cannot cope and will be divorced and sacked if I carry on. He gave me prescription and am I glad he did. keep nagging your doctor0 -
Hello Menos - how the heck are you all?
I often think of us all getting through our flushing, slightly wrinkling, maybe fratchety, possible anxious, often achey, fatigue filled days and nights - or not.
Anyway I want to wish you all a really nice xmas whether it's filled with 'stuff' or just another day that comes and goes.
:rudolf::rudolf::rudolf::santa2::santa2::santa2:::
I've not been too good for some time. Digestive stuff, losing weight (now v underweight, with usual weakness & bucketloads of anxiety around it all). Getting a little stronger though with the help of wonderful BF & simply getting that food down.
Rather relieved it's not been too cold, though I know some of you have had some nasties.
Tomorrow is the shortest day of the year (yes, 22nd this year) which I find uplifting. It won't be too long till the snowdrops peep through. My BF still has some hollyhocks flowering.:j
Remember to relax and be happy & as I always suggest - delegate!"Sometimes letting things go is an act of far greater power than defending or hanging on.”0 -
Joyful - thanks for the quick response.
My moods are dire - really swinging about - like PMT to the power of 100. I'm scary!
I'm lucky I don't have flushes - how I could not handle that as well. My balance is totally shot.
I have to hold on to the wall when I go up the ramp to the shed. I nearly black out when standing up.
I really tried explaining to the Doc on the phone - it's as if he's run out of patience with me. Thing is I slagged off the Champix & I went outwith the surgery for advice on that & I don't think he liked that when I pointed that out to him.
Seen an ad for natural progesterone stuff but I haven't a clue if it's any good or not.
If you have fainting feelings when standing up , this will probally be your blood pressure dropping too low - check out orthostatic hypotention. Make sure you drink lots of water to help with this and talk to your doctor about it cos there is help.Kindness costs nothing0 -
been reading everyones posts and feel right at home here :rotfl:.
my hormonal journey ...
I am 43 , had a blood test 2 years ago which showed i am in perimenopause , but regular periods (although some strange things happening) , periods now shorter 2 - 3 days, a few months ago it came a week earlier ?
always had painful periods.
lumpy painful breasts before periods.
pmt mood swings/irratible
dizziness (severe)
exhaustion.
Anxiety & some time panic attacks.
Was in hospital a few months ago in agony with a ovarian cyst that then dissapeared when my period started ,surgeon said it was a blood cyst ? its madness.
Always feeling very cold or very hot , blood tests showed I am slightly hypothyroid , so started thyroid treatment a week ago.
A few weeks ago doctor found a lump in my breast , then rechecked after my period and it was gone , he said I suffer with fibroadenoma and told me to take grapefruit juice everyday.
neurologist found out my blood pressure is way to low and drops lower when I stand up , said its orthostatic problems and wants to put me on steroids for it to stop me passing out/ or nearly passing out every day. said hormone problems can cause this.
feel a bit of a mess , but try to look after myself by taking vitamins everyday. I take magnesium to help me sleep (it helps) and have just ordered some more progesterone cream for my breast pain .
apart from that I am well :rotfl:.Kindness costs nothing0 -

Hi Mirry,
Spot on re dizzy spells. My dr is being really supportive with all of this so I'm getting help. I do get low blood pressure & low blood sugar & am horrible familiar with dizziness, shaky legs & yes I've just started to drink more. Must put it on the list!"Sometimes letting things go is an act of far greater power than defending or hanging on.”0 -

Hi Shykins,
So sorry to hear about your dad. There's nothing to say is there, to relieve the loss and grief. Big hug from Menoland. I hope you manage a sweet xmas and the general bodily discomfort I know you endure keeps a low profile."Sometimes letting things go is an act of far greater power than defending or hanging on.”0 -

HAve heard that carrot juice is good for fibroadenoma. Also for painful periods have you tried mefanemic acid it is available over the counter now. On the food hospitable yesterday they were saying that vitamin d and calcium help with PMT. I believe that taking magnesium could lower blood pressure, so mention to your GP next time also could have an implication in your calcium absorption, as they compete for absorption.0 -
Thought I'd post this here in case any others experienced this weird problem....
I have always washed my hair every day. About 10 days ago one patch on the crown of my head was really greasy, and I thought I hadn't washed the conditioner out properly. Next day I made sure I did, but the horrible waxy, greasy patch was still there. It was really strange - the rest of my hair was absolutely fine.
Doing some surfing as a work avoidance tactic (self employed!) I found greasy patches on the crown was something often experienced by peri menopausal women. There were numerous remedies suggested and the one I've tried that works is rinsing the greasy patch with listerine. And it works :j definitely less greasy now.
That's my share! Now someone tell me what to do about the spots that have recurred after a 30 year absence, the sweats, and the facial hair! And if anyone has any suggestions on what to do about the white eyebrow hairs... (I know that's age, not hormones!) I'd be very grateful!
happy new year, fellow meno survivors!0 -
The facial hair is here to stay. Tra la, tra la. The eye brow hairs are a menace and are ruthlessly torn out with vigour.
I'm sorry to say that I sailed through menopause with barely a glitch. I did get a bit impatient and crotchety from time to time but that was other people suffering and not me.
I haven't taken any dietary or herbal supplements and now that it's all been over with for some time I feel just great. No moods, no discomfort and no ruddy sanpro.0
