If you login into your T-Mobile A/c (online) and go to My Bills & Plan Summary, now look if you have:

    web'n'walk Plus (18) Free

This (I think) means it's the 3GB limit at full speed (you can obtain in your area), but if you have something different, either (12) or no 'Plus' than I think it means you're on the restricted (capped speed) 1GB plan.

On either if you go over the limit T-Mobile don't charge you extra (like most other networks) they just restrict the speed, which I feel is a more fair.

I'm got the £7.50 deal when it first came out, this new £10 deal seem poor compared to what I have, I think I would of gone for the £10 (30 day) Tesco deal and if the £7.50 came back switched, but it depends on how much date you use.
  • As mentioned above, the best deal currently over the phone from them seems to be a 12 month tariff discounted from £15 to £10, giving you: 600 mins, 500 texts
    and then one booster.

I phoned up twice today and spoke to 2 different sales people.

Shame, if they had the unlimited texts & internet, i'd have snapped their hand off!

I believe it is, as the 1GB internet option appears to be capped to a slower speed by T Mobile, but this is not that well known by staff so they probably won't be able to answer your question with any confidence. I think the reasoning is to help stop you burning through 1GB too quickly.

If you read the T Mobile forum the posters on there have found that the technical team rather than customer services can confirm for sure, and they can also enable HSDPA, the same as the 3GB plan option, so you get the quicker service.

(It has however been reported that some SIM only users have done a speed test and found they're already on HSDPA on a 1GB plan, so test yours when you get it and you may not need to ring in to enable it.)

re: going over 1GB and hitting the FUP, I understand that T Mobile is more realistic than all of the other providers and will just restrict your access during the 4pm to midnight peak hours but leave you free to continue going over 1GB at full HSDPA (if enabled) at all other times :) rather than just cutting you off till the end of your billing period, which all the other providers seem to do!
How do I test this (on Iphone 3GS) and what result should I expect?

I just checked online and it doesn't show web'n'walk Plus. Phones CS and this time the lady confirmed that I was on web'n'walk plus.

Don't know who to believe, nor do I know how to test it.

None HSDPA is 384 kbs but anything under 500kbs will be capped.
HSDPA will be between 0.5mb - 3.6mb ish.

No I've not registered my SIM yet. I'm already on T-Mobile so in order to continue with my existing number I've had to Port my number over to Virgin PAYG temporarily. I will then get another PAC Code and the port back over to T-Mobile on this new deal.

Anyway, after reading some posts on here, I phoned up TMobile CS to clarify the deal. She said I had 1GB of data but also the USA/Canada booster.

So the data is not actually a booster, it's included in the plan. I queried why its only 1GB when it should have been 3GB, she said I must have been given the wrong info when I bought it. I was bit miffed. Thinking of cancelling but she said 1GB would be difficult to exceed.

I've already got access to my T Mobile online billing account.

My Plan shows the 600mins/500 txts.

Under Current services, the boxes ticked are:
    Capped Data Rate
    Video Calling
    USA and Canada Talk Booster
    £5.00 Loyalty
Why did you need to port out and in again? I was at the end of my contract and just got them to put me on the £7.50 deal as it was at the time. I thought I'd have to port out and in but didn't need to in the end.

I found that odd myself. was telling may mates last night in fact and they were surprised too. Though I have heard it before from other network providers that you cant transfer your number over from within the same network operator if it's a new deal. If you're upgrading then it is possible.

Dont see how that's any different?!?

Could be the case that sales advsiro gets more commission/bonus for a new sale rather than upgrade. My somebody on here could clarify.

I was effectively upgrading. When they first did the £7.50 deal they were being funny about putting existing customers on it, but I did mine in the second cohort and they were fine with it. I did have to basically tell the CS rep what to put into the computer though to get the deal!
