I spoke to a Chris Lockwood at customer services today who assured me that the paperwork was in order and they have processed it and i should receive a cheque within 2 weeks! Not sure i beleive him because the first question he asked me was when did i send the claim? But then it appeared on his system!
I will call on Friday to follow up.0 -
Despite what i said about onestop not replying to emails, I sent one about my cashback just to make sure i wasn't being fobbed off. I received a reply yesterday:
Dear Sir,
Thanks for your e mail. Your cheque has been sent out today and you should receive it in the next few days. Many thanks.
Wow! I will post again when i actually receive it!0 -
I am due to receive my invoice from Orange in the next week. I will then try again to claim the cashback. I did try recently but I was a month too early (silly old s*d!).
At the same time, I purchased a 'phone from Forward Cellular which included a cashback scheme. I received my cheque for £159 from FC today! Well done FC. I must be honest and state that this was the first time I had purchased anything with a "Cashback" and was unsure if they would honour the claim. On the two occasions I had to contact FC, I found them to be very friendly and helpful.
Lets hope it goes as well with Onestophoneshop.0 -
WELL DONE ONESTOPYou had me worried.
But i received my £150 without any problems. It took just over a week to arrive. I didn't even have to use recorded delivery.
So i don't feel i have spent any money yet but have had the benefit of a phone.
Looking forward to the six month cashback.0 -
Similar situation with us Zain. Sent off details for wife and cheque came back in just over a week.
;DI am NOT a mortgage & insurance adviser - or anything to do with finance, that was put on by the new system I dont know why?!0 -
Hi Ladies and Gentlemen,
Having succumbed to a contract last year - and gotten a Nokia 6310i - I decided to take a look first before heading into another contract. Then I saw an advert in the Mirror for an off peak deal that had 100% cashback via Vodafone tariff.
The deal was 900 minutes off peak plus 50 SMSs for £17.50 a month with rebate at monthly intervals on an old Nokia handset. It was sold via the mirrorshopping.co.uk and advertised as a special offer for mirror readers and I thought that they must have endorsed it and backed it like the old MOPS scheme (to safeguard people buying via mail order).
[In 2002, I had a O2 deal with handset for £80 with 10 hours off peak a month. Last year I had the renewal of that deal on 500 mins off peak for £30 a year (no handset!) so I thought it was a similar sort of deal here with the proviso that you set off the cost of airtime with the fact that you get a naff handset!]
I took another contract with the firm MOBILE REPUBLIC - this time 200 minutes x-net anytime with another old Nokia handset since most of my family are with Orange.
The orders were lost for amonth, then I chased them up on it and they processed the deals; now I wished I hadn't!!
Three months on - no rebates, one of the handset has a dodgy battery and I have been passed from one guy to another to another without getting any responses!!
My suspicions were aroused when the first bill arrived and showed that I was being charged £24 a month instead of £17.50!! The bill showed that I was getting an add on of £6 SMS and data, pic messaging for £3!! I didn't ask for that - how could I use pic messaging on a Nokia 5146??!!
Singlepoint/Vodafone do not offer the 900 mins off peak with 50 SMSs inclusive of billing for £17.50. They do offer 1000 mins off peak for £20 and there is a half price SMS, data messaging for £3 (instead of £6).
I have been asking how could a company offer a package that was not commercially available by the network at a price that was actually a third more expensive than advertised unless it was AUTHORISED BY SENIOR COMPANY MANAGEMENT.
Surprise, surprise - they say they have contacted Singlepoint and will let me know. That was almost 2 weeks ago!!! Still no news.
Nothing from the Mirror when I copied them the e-mails and the firm is still offering the x-net deal on letsbuyit.com
I am seeking assistance from wiser heads than mine to find out how I can ply some pressure without travelling down to Croydon and demonstrating.
I wished that I had tracked this website down earlier!!
All contributions, of the non-'u-muppet' variety, gratefully received.
Thanks

Hi Haikku
http://www.themobilerepublic.com/about.asp?app=1, this has email addresses of the people at the top. I suggest you email the financial director, lovely guy, he'll be able to help. Put your contact number on the email and you should receive a response pretty quick. Don't waste your time trying to phone their customer services as its not worth the time or stress. Filling in the form online for a 'ticket' is a complete waste of time as well.
To be honest, I wouldn't touch this company again with a barge pole.
Good luck0 -
Hi Rosateef,
Thanks - I forgot to say that I have e-mailed two of the three management listed in the webpage. I hadn't included the finance director (Sandhu) but my suspicion is that McQueen and Amankwah must have been aware of what promotions and adverts were done in the name of the firm.
The long and winding road of litigation beckons???

Mobile Republic are poor. I bought a nokia from them and it took 3 months just to process the order! It was on 9 month cashback and I bought it a year ago now. Anyway they didn't pay the rebate at the 9th month and I had to send about 20 tickets to actually sort it out and they said they could only pay it 2 months after my year on the contract. STUPID or what.
Anyway its been paid at a monthly installment right now. I guess its ok as at least I'm getting the money but they took a year to give it to me!!!!
Well you think I would've learned that cashback is dodgy but I've gone for the One Stop Phone Shop deal starting 2/2/02. I think you only have to send the 4th bill and nothing else? Is that right?Life is one long project0
