This has rather got away from the original topic methinks.
I was always under the assumption that marriage in a church was religious, but a registry office has all references to religion removed - you cannot even sing a hymn at a registry office as I understand it.
It's all a bit of a moot point - you either want to formalise your relationship with some form of ceremony, or wish to keep things as they are. Neither way is right for everybody, that's what makes us all so different.
I still think the OP may have to accept the fact that unless her nest egg was specifically designated as a loan, that she may have seen the last of much of it (unless the partner finally uses the education etc to get a super whizzy job) but, she was happy to use it in the first place.
You can't take it with you when you die, and my Grandfather always told the family that if we got anything from him when he passed away, that he'd timed it wrong. He earnt it, and he made sure he lived life to the full spending it when he retired - Good for him. (We also think he timed it just right too!RIP Granddad)
Always on the hunt for a bargain.
Always grateful for any hints, tips or guidance as to where the best deals are:smileyhea0 -
Seriously, are you telling me you don't decorate your house for christmas, or never buy easter eggs etc, as these things are religious creations.
However does PoorPennilessMe work every day and never take holidays? Because weekends and holidays (Holy Days) are both religious creations, at least as much as marriage is.Eco Miser
