Hi everyone, been MIA for a couple of days and just want to say thanks for the messages and pm's.

Hope you are all doing okay. It is absolutely freezing here. Just been to the cinema (buy one ticket get one free - Orange Wednesdays!) and on the way back to the car i noticed ice on the windscreen and we'd only been in the cinema for a couple of hours. As we drove home there were people spraying de-icer on their windscreens and using scrapers.

Howdy all.time for a catch up

Well lifes been plodding on, work, more work and two of the bleedin mechanics have gone to work for the opposition:mad: after me and my dad making sure there job was secure for them, they said that the garage wasnt as well run by dad as it was by my exOH, what they meant was they werent getting backhanders of dad, what an ungrateful pair, well let them see the grass isnt as green on the other side of town:D:Dshame cos they were a nice couple of young lads that have been with us a few years, wages werent the problem dads scratching his headas to why they left, so hes employed 3 older chaps as he puts it, there 56 54 and 52 repectivley(hes nearly 70) on 3 days a week each , they were so grateful for the job:Tand yet we still cant meet the demands for the MOTs and the car repairs, most folk are hanging on to there older models and making do and mend with them...looks like we need to open up the mothballed reapir bays now...

Mr Montys in the middle of an ongoing losing battle with the leaves falling of the trees, and hes doing some work with the Probation Office this week supervising some lads doing some work, there renewing some steps in a nature reserve...and hes putting pressure on me to move in with him,,,told him to slow slow down..too early yet, keeps tempting me with cooking my tea...:D

I just cant seem to make my ends meet, I think Ive done all the moneysaving tips, am really careful, dont impulse buy, I still think Ive got some remains of the before MOldStyle lifestyle in me, that needs knocking on the head straight away..

The storage heaters in my rented flat are rubbish now the cold weather has really kicked in Im fiddling with the output buttons, thank god for fleeces hot water botles and a chunky man oops sorry too much info there ...

Ive lined my curtains, got draught things down by the door, wearing an extra layer yet Im still cold, and the weathers not even that bad yet...need to haul out my thermal undies:eek: very sexy not ....

Local LETS folk love my cakes, so have a nice wee bartering line going, have bartered babysittting with Mr Monty in exchange for him cleaning my windows and painting the bathroom...he didnt like my cafe au lait colour I chose hes a magnolia man:cool::cool: that man needs a cosy evening in front of the fire with some colour charts...men there such stick in the muds sometimes..and all his jumpers, green, navy black and brown am gonna buy him a bright red one for Xmas...

Divorce is nearly finalised soon...went down to old house to clear out the bits the exOH had left before scarpering out of town with Blondie Flooz...local Freecycle were up and down the path all last weekend:p:p nowt went to the tip, and some of the furniture went to local charity so least something good has come out of this marriage fracas.... weve had an offer on the house and its pretty decent considering current housing market so Ive signed on the dotted line and now the financials can be sorted out.

Have had a job offer from that hospital in Aberystwyth with a tempting wage, Mr Monty looked a bit shocked when I mentioned it, mumbling that there was a job vacancy here and a cot that needed filling and his little un had gotten used to me bieng around and we would be having a real good talk tommorow to sort this out :eek::eek: as hed put his case for me staying in the area more thoroughly...ooh errrr he is a persuasive chappie ahem cough yes well... Ive gone from a two timing rat fink to the best thing since sliced bread and no ladies hes not going to get away from me I`ll make sure of that...

Hope everyones keeping warm, hugs and warmest thoughts to those who need them, am off to scoff a jaffa cake...xxx

    Thanks Kezlou...

I am going to get all my seeds here click as its just 20p a pack - you get less than in standard packs but there are always more than I can use anyway and don't last well once opened.

    HTH :)
  • Hope your Dad feels better soon, frugal and you and your DDs too. Thanks for the seed link. Cheapest I've seen. Will look properly tomorrow as too tired now. I only need a couple of things as save some of my own seed (peas, beans, toms, marigolds etc - the easy ones!) and keep the rest in a box in the fridge so do sow seeds well past their use by date - even spinach beet and parsnip have done one more year - cabbages and toms last for ever, well five years anyway!

  • Hi all,

Just popped in to have a catch up, before I go to bed.

With regards to e-coli, this is caused by faeces in the food, so an incorrect slaughter procedure would possibly cause contamination of this kind, but not the meat being out of date.

Anyway, we're still ok, it's freezing and I'm nearly at the end of my placement. Had a totally unprovoked attack on me tonight (verbal!) by one of the nursing assistants, as he thought I was wearing a Help for Heroes band rather than a Poppy Appeal one! I was calm and explained rather a lot of info to him about both charities, but he still kept going off on one, so I left him to it. Thing is, he's normally such a lovely bloke, I just don't get it.

Anyway, finished my last night shift (I know, it's cos I'm a student) on this final placement, and I'm off to bed with a cold duvet and a hot man!! :D MIL coming tomorrow so pizza for lunch (she doesn't eat after 4pm), then prep for another job interview on Friday. Haven't had my letter from the last interview, but I know it's the post rather than the place being rubbish.

That's it, I'll stop rambling, and wish you all a goodnight :) xxx

Flowertot- glad your DH is enjoying Poundland and fingers crossed for him that a job comes out of it. How fab
Mrs Veg Plot - I had a chest infection last year, the 2nd lot of antibiotics were like horse pills and made me feel v sick until I read the label (should have done it at the start!) - take with a full glass of water . The difference was amazing - no sick feeling at all. Infection cleared quickly too. My sister advised me to stand with arms up in air then bring them down to my sides quickly, bend over and breathe out hard. Did this (on my own as looked a right eejit) and it always brought on a good bout of coughing. It seemed to help clear it. That and lots of steaming sessions with either just hot water or with a bit of Vick in it. Very MSE! I haven't had a chest infection since i was a baby and it was horrible. Stay warm and really think whether you are well enough to go in to work. You don't want this lingering.
Thinking of you and your dad, frugal. Hope he gets over the infection and stomach bug quickly.

Well - actually further good has come from bad. If those young guys were in the habit of taking backhanders from ex OH - then you are just as well rid of them. You'll do much better with those 3 "older" men and thats 3 people happier then (as they've now got some work).

"Job vacancy and a cot to fill" - mygawd...he doesnt waste much time does he?:rotfl::rotfl:

All round - somehows I thought you'd be in the position where you would get offered that job elsewhere - but things would have gotten somewhat "involved" where you are (between Monty, the garage and the allotment you have a "full life to lead" right where you are). I thought "Bet that Annie has to choose between two different 'lives' that she could have - and I wonder which one she will choose":)

Hope you make the right choice Annie - and thats me having started my day by bursting out laughing at your "antics":D

Great news annie, and I agree with ceridwen, better off with the older mechanics anyway, bet they will be willing to be more flexible etc and the added advantage is that I would guess they are unlikely to turn up hungover next day!! Our MOT station complains his younger lads always turn in hungover on Saturdays and it really slows them down as he sends them home or into back to clean up.

Have got school meeting today to decide DS6 school future, whether he returns to old school or we look into new finding a new one. Really scared and worried as I do not know what to do for the best and have learnt enough to know that the so called experts are not always fighting for my child. :)

Have just walked into garage and realised its full to bursting with food stuffs etc, so am going to spend tomorrow having a sort out and getting organised again. It was so cold last night and I could not get warm, so think maybe its time to increase the heating again, have already got fleeces up on the windows but I am finding that when I open the curtains in the morning the cold air rushes out and hits me.

My B&M is selling off it's multipacks of seeds for 40p each. There's six varieties in each packet and there are themed mixes of salad crops, herbs, oriental mix, cooks mix, stewpot mix etc etc. They're all dated till 2013 and in foil packs. Worth a look perhaps if you have a B&M close?
