  • I think for the new tennants, they should have some sort of "tennancy for life" guarantee, but with a condition that they must agreed to smaller homes when they live alone/no children at home or something similar. Not that I think I agree with that either, but if people have been good tennants, paying their rent regularly all their days it would be really unfair to see them out on the street, surely? (EDITed to say that I put that badly and mean I am not sure if they should be made to move out of their homes at all)

Please missmumKezlou, I didn't start it, it was them^^^^^^^^^^^^ and I'm not saying anything else, promise. :D

  • Cranky - could you maybe instigate an evening-walk-before-bed routine for the winter where you go out after tea and before bath time (or whatever) and have a kind of nature walk for your lad to get rid of some energy? The only other thing I can suggest is an alarm clock, set to the earliest you feel is reasonable, and providing a box of quiet activities and perhaps a cereal bar and carton of juice, and telling your little lark in no uncertain terms that he is not to cross the threshold of his room except for a wee until the alarm goes off. Depending on the child it may work like a miracle or it may fall flat....it's all I can come up with, and it's all that worked for our continually early rising son :D

I like that one...I can apply that one at work too....thanks Gailey :D

It also means that council tenants who are forced to move then cant have their grown up children back home if they lose their homes or split up with partners and the partner gets the house.. its batty. I wish I got paid as much as the govt for saying batty things. I'm as good at it as they are !

It looks like I'll be starting work next week, after months of job hunting, so hooooray!!! :j:j:j
However, I realise that 5 months of sofa surfing, I'm going to be tired, so am trying to organise a batch cooking day for the weekend so that the fridge and freezer are full and all I have to do is zap something when I get home. So far I'm thinking of doing a chicken stew that could double as a pie with the quick addition of a puff pastry hat, some emergency pasta with sauce (emergency pasta is what I call those filled parcels of fresh pasta that just need a quick dunk in boiling water, can't think of the real name, ex DH and I used to keep them in the fridge for, well, emergencies!), maybe a lasagna or similar.... and lunch stuff too, a quiche would be good.. I'm madly panicking at the thought of having to be organised. I'll also have to contact the world and his wife (e.g. income support, hb, free school dinner people etc) to tell them of change of circumstances.
Right, I need to make a list!!!!
Say what you mean.. mean what you say... without being mean.

Well done ladies..now group hug and breathe.........:):)

"Group Hug" is just what I was thinking - whew...

With thanks to Kezlou for keeping things peaceful - so gold star to you for effort on that.

Silver Star to others - as the thread has been 99% peaceful today. Maybe we'll be at 100% peacefulness tomorrow and can upgrade to Gold Star.

'Tis true what one poster said that we are from all ages and backgrounds - so, with that, there will certainly be some very different viewpoints.

Anyway...for now....we'll stay in that Group Hug shall we?:D
