    nicely done, annieG!

well im home after a flipping nightmare of a day at work, we dont call it the funhouse for nowt!
also been told today that after our organisation merging with another, we are having our paydate changed from 27th to 21st... just in time for a weeks less pay in december! argh!

Thank you! To say I'm relieved is an understatement!

That's rubbish having your paydaye changed like that... aren't they making some sort of transitional arrangements? Especially as Christmas is on its way? My old employer did that when our pay date changed. Might be worth asking?

Right. After a very unproductive day (only got 4 hours' work done :( ), I have given up! I was supposed to be going out for a couple of hours this evening, but have decided that instead, I am going to have a housework blitz!

I can't afford to have another unproductive day on saturday (which is what will happen if the house is still a mess, as I will end up doing housework instead of working), so tonight I'm going to clean clean clean and tidy tidy tidy! :T

OH is helpfully watching a football match (it's very important, apparently)

Right ho then, best stop procrastinating and get on with it! Wish me luck....! I'll be back later to report on how I got on :D

p.s. just wanted to join in the group hug and reiterate what a few other people have said - I find it so interesting hearing viewpoints from people from all different outlooks on life, different areas of the country, different backgrounds etc. Much richer mix than in real life (for me, anyway), so I feel that I learn a lot from you guys, not just about being OS (although I do!) but also just about society/life in general, so cheers!

Cranky - could you maybe instigate an evening-walk-before-bed routine for the winter where you go out after tea and before bath time (or whatever) and have a kind of nature walk for your lad to get rid of some energy? The only other thing I can suggest is an alarm clock, set to the earliest you feel is reasonable, and providing a box of quiet activities and perhaps a cereal bar and carton of juice, and telling your little lark in no uncertain terms that he is not to cross the threshold of his room except for a wee until the alarm goes off. Depending on the child it may work like a miracle or it may fall flat....it's all I can come up with, and it's all that worked for our continually early rising son :D

He's just had his weekly swimming lesson. If he sleeps better tonight than the rest of the week then I reckon you could be on to something.....why did I not think of the "less exercise in winter" thing. Maybe I need to get him a treadmill :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

here we go and the cuts are going to hurt

I just heard of a few local cuts: buses, libraries, recycling, grass cutting, playgrounds, half the road maintenance ie lots more potholes and this is just the start

It looks like I'll be starting work next week, after months of job hunting, so hooooray!!! :j:j:j
However, I realise that 5 months of sofa surfing, I'm going to be tired, so am trying to organise a batch cooking day for the weekend so that the fridge and freezer are full and all I have to do is zap something when I get home. So far I'm thinking of doing a chicken stew that could double as a pie with the quick addition of a puff pastry hat, some emergency pasta with sauce (emergency pasta is what I call those filled parcels of fresh pasta that just need a quick dunk in boiling water, can't think of the real name, ex DH and I used to keep them in the fridge for, well, emergencies!), maybe a lasagna or similar.... and lunch stuff too, a quiche would be good.. I'm madly panicking at the thought of having to be organised. I'll also have to contact the world and his wife (e.g. income support, hb, free school dinner people etc) to tell them of change of circumstances.
Right, I need to make a list!!!!

Jolly well done. I'm very pleased for you :)

Thank you so much! I have a small dilemma to sort out first, with regards to an interview for a different job, but it looks like I'm joining the workforce again :0)
