AnnieG - I'm so pleased for you - well done!! You will soon build the stamina back up!! I think your ideas for meals sound great and I'm going to pinch the idea of putting pastry hats on chicken (and beef) stew:p.
Rachel - lovely to see you in here. Look forward to seeing your posts :).
Well, tea was very unusual tonight but ultra frugal. I had left over liver stew (as planned) but
decided to defrost the mystery packages in the freezer as the portions of liver were a bit small. So...DH had liver stew mixed with a portion of what turned out to be Irish Stew and I had chicken madras and a small bit of the stew....with potatoes, carrots, cabbage and peas :). I am not going to be beaten by belt tightening:rotfl:.We had spicy tomato/ veg soup first so have had a good filling meal.
Ok, off to have a go at the crossword for brain exercise.
    Have a good evening folks.

Welcome Monty, could do with a few men on here ;)

Group hug was lovely:A Long live diversity, it is impoprtant to be able to express our opinions and have debates without taking offence, it is good to hear different points of view and realise sonetimes that both views are equally valid, makes life challenging, interesting and helps us grow as tolerant and compassionate human beings.

Had a frustrating day, walked the dogs with two friends who challenged me beyond belief with their views on certain issues, particularly about why the country is in the state it is. I had to decide whether to stay silent or stick my head above the parapet. Needless to say i opened my gob......
When i left them i felt quite tearful about their attitudes and insularity, can't get the words of the song 'Imagine' out of my head, " You might say I'm a dreamer.....'
Then i came home and decided to treat OH to a new recipe pork in a creamy cider sauce, walked all the way to the shops to by some cheap cider £1.32 fom Mr S and a carton of single cream. Came back and put the pork fillet whoopsie on the side with all the other ingredients, went out of the room for about 30 seconds and when i came back the meat was gone and the dog looked guilty:mad::mad::mad:

So what with the smelly fish yesterday and this today feel well and truly thwarted. Still the dog looks happy:rotfl:

  • :rotfl: lovelife, I am sorry but that was funny! :rotfl: You'd be OK here with your pork, my wee dog doesn't like it :D I feel bad for you that you couldn't discuss you views with your real life friends in an open and friednly manner, and ended up being upset, that's very sad.

  • Just been on facebook chatting, asked a friend about where they worried about her husbands job with the private sector jobs - she asked what cuts!

They do live in a bit of a dream world but still I just wanted a chat

Annie G - Congratulations on the job. I've just started a new one this week and think I'm damn lucky to get it the way things are.

Bungee hooks may be the next option (only joking, honest!).

Don't do that until you've tried vaseline on the inside door handle. :D

Seriously Jane, you do a fab job and your lovely hubby would be ever so proud.

Very, very cold here but windowsstill all open to let out paint fumes and sanding dust. We are wrapped up warm though and have discovered that putting the dog to bed in our room an hour before we retire ensures a warm bed. :D

Just a point about something read earlier in the thread about heating up a bed with a hairdryer. :( Please be careful advising the elderly to do this. A hairdryer should not be left plugged in for long periods and isn't recommended for use close to fabric. :)

    Congrats on the job Annie!!!
Life has moved very fast for you Annie 56 hasn't it?. I have a friend who is going through a rotten divorce but it has taken much longer than your quickie to come through.
Welcome to monty :hello: Your daughter sounds really cute. I love children with little toothless smiles. Mine didn't lose theirs until they were 6 though so your little one must be extra cute.
