MG, what kind of venue are you looking for, for how many etc? The place I used to volunteer at has a training room - not hugely posh (it's in a conservation centre!) but cheery - not sure if they hire it out though, but can ask. The charity is VERY big on mind mapping though, so I'm sure they'd be most welcoming :D Can PM you details if you want them :)

Pretty basic really - tables and chairs for 44 people (see I am focussing on nothing other than complete success). Jugs and glasses for water - access to bathrooms and a socket to plug in my OHP. I come with screen, OHP and everything else I need.

If you think they might be suitable could you ask whether they would consider us "visiting a spell"

I might be able to persuade a couple of students in Leeds to attend. I will try and get them to spread the word if I can.

  • Lara, glad some of your anxiety is fading! :T Well done indeed for asking for help - and for taking it! :T

Michelle - didn't realise you were in Rotherham! I'm in Sheffield - and round the corner from me we have a rather fabulous Country Market (affliliated to the WI, google Country Markets) every Saturday morning, which sells hand made cakes and crafts and things. They do quite a trade in cheery knitted kids' clothes :D

I'm sure there's probably one nearer to you, but if you fancy a mini trip over to Sheffield one Saturday morning for a cheap cup of tea and some fabulous cake, I'm more than happy to take you along so you can have a nosey at what's on offer and a chat to some of the people involved if you think you might fancy it in the future? :) No obligation (to me or the WI!) - and if you want to just come and have a nosey at what's going on to store up future possibilities without talking to anyone, that's fine too! :D PM me if you'd like to (it's every Saturday, but only open 9am-12, so you'd have to get up early!) xx

I will have to look out for that. Weekend time is quite scarce at the minute as we have a lot of DIY stuff going on in the house in a couple of weeks and we need to empty the garage first to fit the new kitchen cupboards and stuff in until it is installed, but i am definitely interested. Will have to get DH to kid sit. The early start does not sound a problem. The last 3 Saturdays have been 5:30, 5:30 then 6:45. Thanks for thinking of me. :D

Would that include lunch or do they need to bring a picnic?

May be a long day without food.

Bring your own packed lunch:D - most of the costs in hiring a hotel is in the money they charge for water, coffee breaks and lunch(usualy things wrapped in reheated pastry). Those costs are passed on to the students.

This is a MSE Memorygirl World Tour - stripped down and value for money so that we can touch 1000 kids. So no posh hotels, waiters in aprons, silver service and afternoon teas - although we will have that at my "pay the mortgage off in one pound coins party".:D:D

Besides - I find kids are a bit funny with "different" foods and would rather they ate well from familiar foods at lunchtime to keep their energy up (OMG!!! I've turned into my mum!!!)

  • Hi Everyone,

I have been very busy with work lately and weekend was taken up, in a nice way, with seeing family - been listing on e-bay and picking up some MS's to try and help cover cost of car repair :( Just had a quick read so sorry if I miss anyone off - Happy Birthday to those celebrating today :D

Claire - I *will* be paying you tomorrow via paypal :o so excited to be getting my ear-rings.

MG - I will PM you my e-mail address - now I've signed up to OU I really need to attend your course but I am fairly certain I am due in work that weekend so will need to wait until you're nearer me.

    Hi all,

Managed to catch up again and due to this being a very late posting and I have to get up early tomorrow I will keep it short and sweet.

Loving the continual positiveness - it never ceases to amaze me what the power of positive thinking and community spirit can actually achieve.

I have been watching the Sky coverage of the Chilean Miners rescue tonight and I have been in bits! It's up to the 31st miner and I am absolutely shattered. I am just as overcome with emotion with the 31st as when I saw the coverage of the 1st and 2nd this morning before heading off for work. It's such a lovely change to be able to watch good news on the tv. I have banned myself from watching the news on TV for about a month now due to the negativeness and constant bad and demotivating news. Before I went to bed last night I mentioned that the rescue operation would have started and that we would wake up and start the day good news. What a lovely feeling throughout the world.

I am getting so much more emotional, dunno if its all down to my current depressive state or a touch of me age setting in now as well!!!

Also, after the first 24 hours of collecting for Kits for Kids I have received my first 3 shirts by a very kind gentleman at work and been promised another 35 by facebook friends and also another 12 from a friend of mine's effort in her texting her old work pals. Yet again, overwhelmed with the power of positive thinking and community spirit. I am so excited to be part of the matrix because I am able to achieve something. The sense of achievement has been missing for so long. Believe it or not, that's why I enjoy ironing or housework or even an early night(!) because its the only time I feel I actually personally achieve something.

MG - I can't make the 13 November but if you are deciding to do a Newcastle workshop (where adults can attend!) for the 20th November I am sure I will be able to make it. If not, I definitely will be on your list for Newcastle for April next year.

Mike - thanks for replying to my PM. All taken on board but currently not able to action! I am dying to get back to being creative on me lovely Mac!

So today, I wish to thank The Universe for giving me such a good day, good news and the beginnings of fully achieving something worthwhile. What a bl***y good feeling! Yay!

    Night night
