Thanks Karmacat and Claire for your comments. I am being held back a bit by myself at the minute lacking confidence. Yes i made that item well, but i need to learn other skills. I know i should just think to myself that i taught myself how to do that over a few months so anything is achievable really.

My sister in law loved it, and my sister fell in love with it too and said if ever she has another baby i must make it for her. It is so pretty. I wish i had learned when i had my own two. :o

My mum offered to sell me some in her shop, but she has a bargain shop - sells a bit of everything at a low price. The internet is where i need to be to make it worth while.

    Hi,

Just wanted to say this is gorgeous. I would consider one for my spare bedroom! (so not just the baby market) As I'm sure you would be more prepared to try and match up colours for me.

I have a friend who knits, hats, mittens and has continous orders, just from a facebook page and word of mouth. I had her knit a hat for my nephews christening and now all her friends are asking after them:D

Anything is always worth a go and at this point you can be totally in charge of hou much you fly....

To be fair, it might, but it will require a day of militarily precise timing. And a local hairdresser in Headingley who can fit me in! ;)

P.S. I can pass on info to locals about the day, MG, but it will be much easier if you have a website/links for me to provide to people to illustrate what I'm talking about. :)

I'm working on that in between catching up in here:D Be with you soon I promise.

My brain is a bit fried and the words - well they are not coming easily:cool:

I'm off back there now that the kids are in bed.

  • You are all so lovely on here. Facebook is one of my considerations. I've had offers of people linking me to their friends on there. I need some ready made stock though so i can photograph it then offer that or to make stuff. I need to speed up a lot too as well.

I have so many ideas i need to get on with it really. :D

    Hi Everyone

Another quick update from Kampala. This week I have started my fieldwork officially. I have been to two repair shops and tomorrow I hope to see some phone unlocking in action. A wonderful lady who goes to the university I am visiting at has taken me under her wing. She works in the phone business and has set up almost all these wonderful introductions.

I have asked everyone I needed to for help so far, and even though it wasn't easy the results have been wonderful. I have taken all the help that has been offered which has left me feeling like I must 'pay it forward' with bells on top!

This week I has been a much more normal back 'down to earth' sort of week. The high anxiety is subsiding but also the high excitement and I am realising that it's all about taking one day at a time. This living fully in the now, being open, giving good energy and positivity isn't half knackering :rotfl:

A mix up with hte guest house bookings left me in a shared dorm with strangers (my worst nightmare) and I went to pieces a bit over it. Cue my realisation - I must give up control. Mr Big's task was easy enough after that, ladies I am going to stop being so controlling and take the African attitude for the forseeable future.

MG - really rooting for you in your battle with the bank - know you can do it, will be following you every step of the way :)

Lara, glad some of your anxiety is fading! :T Well done indeed for asking for help - and for taking it! :T

Michelle - didn't realise you were in Rotherham! I'm in Sheffield - and round the corner from me we have a rather fabulous Country Market (affliliated to the WI, google Country Markets) every Saturday morning, which sells hand made cakes and crafts and things. They do quite a trade in cheery knitted kids' clothes :D

I'm sure there's probably one nearer to you, but if you fancy a mini trip over to Sheffield one Saturday morning for a cheap cup of tea and some fabulous cake, I'm more than happy to take you along so you can have a nosey at what's on offer and a chat to some of the people involved if you think you might fancy it in the future? :) No obligation (to me or the WI!) - and if you want to just come and have a nosey at what's going on to store up future possibilities without talking to anyone, that's fine too! :D PM me if you'd like to (it's every Saturday, but only open 9am-12, so you'd have to get up early!) xx

MG, what kind of venue are you looking for, for how many etc? The place I used to volunteer at has a training room - not hugely posh (it's in a conservation centre!) but cheery - not sure if they hire it out though, but can ask. The charity is VERY big on mind mapping though, so I'm sure they'd be most welcoming :D Can PM you details if you want them :)
