Some positive thoughts please.... I have my OU exam today and just want enough to pass. Don't feel confident at all!

Good luck - possitive thought sent. And remember that 80% is good enough - believe this and you will get the other 20.

  • Afternoon all!
Have been struggling to catch up again.

Belated birthday wishes on their way - and positive thoughts to those taking exams, looking for jobs and dealing with other of life's challenges.

It has been so nice to see/ hear all the good news about the Chilean rescue - I had also given up reading news as it always makes me feel worse - and I don't even have a TV so wasn't subjected to live coverage. Will stop again now!

Just been promised 3 footie tops.

Olive did you say the centre has a web site? Would be nice to be able to show people where their stuff is going.

Kavicks I have sent you a PM, please get in touch!

MG hopefully with us all behind you, once that ocean liner gets going you will be surfing!

I'm going to Wales at the weekend (Aberystwith on Saturday and Portmeirion on Sunday), and we are staying in the Travelodge at Portmadog on Saturday night. Can any of you Welsh people recommend a good place to eat on Saturday night?
Either a nice pub or are there any chain restaurants that I could use 2 for 1s at.

The books have arrived MG - thanks very much. I will now use them as an excuse not to sort out my presentation (after all, I'm learning better ways to fix it :p). I plan to spend the afternoon sitting in front of the fire benefitting from your wisdom :D. Maybe I can even make the presentation interesting  and memorable :rotfl:(memorable for me would be good too :o)

... talking of which... the post above is inspirational, like many of your others in the past. So many people have had their lives changed by seeing how you have changed yours, and I'm sure all the success on this thread will continue to change lives. Reflections like this can help everyone realise that they can do the same. Congratulations on the progress you've made, and the way in which you've touched so many lives.

MG: Your reflective post has made me cry. That just about sums up where I was when I found MDAM.
You are a true inspiration to many and your boys are so lucky to have such a lovely Mum.

You deserve every success that comes your way.

    Hi MG,

On the rhubarb crowns, I've always been told not to pick any in the first year, so that it has plenty of energy in the crown to give good yields in later years. But maybe it depends on how big the crowns are. I've always stuck to the rule and it's worked well for me. A relative was saying how her new rhubarb wasn't producing much, and it turned out she'd picked in the first year and it was really weak and not improving, but maybe it was just coincidence.

I've spent ages reading the original thread that led upto this one.
What the bank did to you MG is massive compared to the hiccups that are in my life, but I've copied and pasted what hit me as really relevant from your fab post below.
I realise now that by overcoming the crippling inertia, the feeling of being completely helpless and stuck was a huge mountain to begin to climb. I remember clearly the days when I would just stare at the ironing pile slowly growing because I couldn't be bothered to walk the eight steps to the cupboard and bring out the ironing board.
That is so me, in varying degrees in my life, or was, till I found this thread. I had this overwhelming feeling (selfishly) that I was the only one. I'm not and I am so thankful that I'm am slowly gaining confidence and hopefully the ability to deal with what was lacking.
Even your '15 minute bursts' have helped me immensely, me and so many others,
You WILL succeed, the ripple effect is multiplying, and I'm still trying to work out what I can do to help the Matrix, perhaps something will hit me in another lightbulb moment.
    Hey ho, onwards and upwards,
Have a great day everybody. x
  • MG, came across these people who do specialist training for medical professionals:

    http://www.medicalinterviewsuk.co.uk/

They certainly have a lot to learn, I wonder if this company might be interested in linking up with you to do study skills courses for medics?

Will promise to do my 15 minutes tomorrow (after the interview) :)

    Hi MG,

Its great to be able to share your thoughts about this whole journey. I know I have said it in the past but I feel quite privileged to be part of this whole massive 'thing' (I can not honestly think of a word that can describe it - it's not a group or a project, it's not an event or occasion)

I can so relate to the 'can't be bother walking the 8 steps to the ironing board' - I still get days when I can't be bothered to do anything - its a massive effort to get washed (disgusting), can't be bothered to brush my teeth (again, disgusting), can't even be bothered to do the things I love to do (ridiculous) but I am sorting myself out and it is the 'baby steps' approach.

I believe I found your thread at the perfect time in my life I should've found it and although I am still low and in a job that drains every ounce of energy from my very being I am now involved with the Kits for Kids charity collection and people are donating every day. This is a great boost because I am actually achieving something worthwhile. Getting washed, brushing teeth, actually getting off public transport at the correct stop to go to work - these are my usual day to day achievements.

So thankyou, MG and I look forward to meeting you one day. You are human just like all of us but you have proven that you can get yourself back to the way you want to be and it takes motivation, energy and support from friends.

Now get your head down and get working!!!!

Hoping everyone else is filling with positiveness - this is the second day for me - can't believe it!
