Secondly do you think this would help adults? And could it be something done via a webinar? Ie online to sveral groups in different locations? Maybe I should trannsfer these thoughts across to the other site?
The Head of Modern Languages is keeping the stats - obviously he is looking at strategies to let his department storm ahead.
He was pretty shocked at the results though..... but he did point out that he thought a lot of the "power was in the presenter" - which makes sense I suppose, which set me down the route of thinking of filming them instead.

Hi MG
The language thing sounds amazing. Definitely get a video course going - there'd be loads of people who want to learn the basics of a language for holidays etc, as well as students. I could have done with it when I tried to learn Polish for a trip there a few years ago! I think online training in general could be a huge 'market' for you - whether quick snippets or a more structured course.
Talking of which, I've been asked to do some online teaching - very pleased! I can see this as a great opportunity for moving towards the sort of working life I wantDebt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -

I tried to learn Polish through my local collage-gave up after a couple of occassions, realized it was not important to understand what my MIL-to-be wants to say:rotfl:. That was about 6 years ago, we have a brilliant relationship now mainly because we don't talk to each other just smile(she is lovely btw, I mean I think she is, only seeing her twice a year so can't really judge on that one:o).

Ok you lot of cooking experts, I fancy trying to make a chicken and bacon Lasagne, but only have the bolognaise sauce, Can I use the veg cup a soup mix instead?? and just mix it a bit thicker?? or do you think it will taste yukk?? I have 7 boxes to use
Are you wanting to use the cup a soup mix instead of the bolognaise sauce or instead of the white sauce? I'm all for experimentation and short cuts but I don't think it sounds too good.
If it is instead of the bolognaise you could make a basic sauce by frying an onion and some bacon and the chicken, then taking the chicken out and adding some flour to thicken it and stirring in a some stock made from a chicken stock cube. Add whatever herbs you have in the cupboard or bits of veg to liven things up (red pepper or mushrooms or sweetcorn all leap to mind). If you want a creamy sauce, add milk instead of stock or if you have some white wine throw a dash of that in.0 -
Came into work today to find two football shirts on my desk. Woo!
On the baking front I have to report that the Lakeland Mini Morsels baking pan is not as easy to use as the catalogue suggests. I should have expected this, I have now had 30 years (40 if you include the adverts for Mousetrap) of being seduced by wonder gadgets only to find that they aren't as brilliant as they promise. I will make it work with a bit of experimentation and a lot of pastry.0 -

Do you mean for the white sauce?
I don't know the quantities, MG will, but don't you just mix flour and butter in a saucepan and then add milk til it boils? Add cheese and or mustard if you want...0 -
Kavics my MIL is Dutch and I thought it was perfect as my Dutch is limited so I couldnt spoil her impression of me as a nice Daughter in law
However last week DH was musing that its a shame we can't get to know each other better and be able to chat when the baba arrives (After 8 years!), so I pointed out that I couldn't ruin her good impression of me, and that we never clash (mostly just smile and nod)... to which he said "She thinks you are messy and disorganised!" Bloomin cheek! When 8 of them normally arrive en-masse all I do is cook, clear and clean for the entire flipping visit!
The postive outcome is that I have a cleaner comming to do a deep clean tomorrow, and in a couple of week a top up before they arrive (The flybaby in me is screaming with outrage, but with pre-eclamsia and enforced bed rest means I really am not allowed to do house work!)Right now I'm having amnesia and deja- vu at the same time. I think I've forgotten this before0 -
White sauce for pouring
1.5 oz buter
1.5 oz plain four
1 pint milk
Salt and pepper to taste
Sorry guys but my recipe memory system uses "old weights" LOL
Melt butter in a bowl in the microwave (or pan if OS)
Add flour and beat until smooth
Add milk a little at a time until all incorporated
then either nuke on high for 4 mins, whisking well every minute - or bring to the boil in a pan and cook for 2-3 minutes stiring gently all the time.
I do this in the micro because there is no risk of the sauce sticking or scorching - was taught this trick by a Chef at the Ritz btw:D
For a thicker "coating sauce" use 2oz each of butter and flour and follow the same method.
............... and yes before you ask :rotfl::rotfl: If I'm ever asked to be on Mastermid my specialist subject will be "recipes and methods contained inthe Bero cookbook":D
