MG, I would like to join in the Matrix I think it would be really helpful to me!

Hi Alisara - you need to drop a PM to the guru (Memorygirl:D) and she can add you - put your email address in the message for her as well.

    So do I :D

Yes, me too, now, I wonder how we can achieve that:
Does anyone have ANY links to anyone in rugby at a high level?
Does anyone have any links to the Autumn International series sponsor (Investec possibly?)

Got to be possible - how on earth could they say no?!

    Good morning.

I had a surprise this morning from the postman - there was a package from Amazon?????? I haven't ordered from Amazon but the package was in my name ????? Totally confused I opened it, inside was a book called "Good food the family meal planner" Still none the wiser why I had this book, but a fantastic book for me may help with the food situation where I keep buying cause I don't know what to do for meals, Anyway I looked on the Invoice and there was a message " Hi Claire saw this and thought of you, love and best wishes Ellidee"

I am so chuffed that someone has taken time to be so generous and think of me, I'm sat here with a huge smile on my face and will be having half hour with a coffee later and having a read.

I made some new jewellery last night which I'm going to photograph today and put on facebook, MG is it ok to post pics on the matrix for those who don't have facebook??

Fantastic news on the football shirts.

Also a member of the matrix gave me a link for nhs Intranet where I can advertise the jewellery but have to give a discount, might be worth doing?? How much discount do you think I should offer?? (perhaps this bit should be put on the matrix site??)

I would say 10% but perhaps move it over to the other site just to keep everyone happy :)

What a great gift - mind you I am a sucker for cookery type books.

Post away Claire - love seeing your photos - create yourself a thread and have a wee online catalogue for us to lust after.

I've just spend two hour with some students from the local secondary - teaching them how to use Mind Maps and memory techniques to learn Modern Languages. - what a result!!!

5 kids as a pilot - all learning French, so to make it fair I taught them 100 words of German instead (I know I'm cruel) then tested them after a break.

    96% retention rate - woohooo!!!!

Why a hundred words? - well 50% of all spoken language is made up of a basic vocabulary of 100 words. So when you are starting to learn a language it makes sense just to get on and absolutely learn those 100 words rock solid.

The teacher said that with a vocabulary of 250 words you could sit a higher level exam - so those kids could have been about half way here in two hours (if I had been kinder and taught them the language they are actually learning:D)

So I have my lists of 100 words now for

    French
    German
    Italian
    Spanish
    Russian
    Chinese (Pin Yin pronouncation)
    Japanese

and I'm waiting for our Dutch Montessori Teacher to come up with her finished list of 100 Dutch words.

Huge huge fun to learn and to teach.

For those academics amongst you - the kids will be tested again in a week and a month and in three months to monitor their retention rates.:D

I'm thinking what a cracking wee course to be taught to every kid studying languages - but of course its impossible to get around them all at the beginning of term.

What do you guys think about me getting these little short courses filmed instead - do you think parents would be interested?

    Do svidaniya (Russian for bye-bye)

  • MG - sorry to hear your news but glad for your friend.

So you need to replace your friend...

    Just thinking out loud here...

What about a university class doing Marketing (preferably final year as they will be hoping to establish future links). I'm talking using the whole class here - maybe as a practical part of their coursework. Their need for extra pennies (commission) may produce a lot of effort on their part.

    Just thoughts...

I'm just curious do you monitor them on a one to one basis or just overall? I take it you record all this information in some kind of spreadsheet/database?

Secondly do you think this would help adults? And could it be something done via a webinar? Ie online to sveral groups in different locations? Maybe I should trannsfer these thoughts across to the other site?
