P.S. What time does everyone get up round here anyway?

7.00am every day, Mike, to make sure the boiler's working for me and my lodger - it has an intermittent fault, and boiler engineer hasn't traced it yet - boiler is in the garage so the neighbours are being entertained every morning as I flash out in my goonie to press the reset button... this has been going on for some time!

I find one hour in the morning is worth two in the afternoon so I don't mind getting up at this time even on a weekend. Peace, quiet and the cat looking for a cuddle as I have a cuppa, is lovely.

I'm all for there being a dedicated website, but no-one has yet said that it's going to be a bit of a pain having to check and catch up with two sites, both of which could get busy.

If there was a final post here saying where the thread went and how to apply to join the new site, I think most people would transfer having read this thread and its predecessor. If not, they aren't interested.

I can foresee lots of 'Now which site was it on?' problems. People will also reply to a thread on here in the new site.

Sorry to be the only dissenting voice if I am but that's my two penn'orth. Maybe the high number of 'voters' supporting the new site is made up partially of people not wishing to be left by the wayside. The new site's the right thing to do but keeping certain topics just for 'here' will kill its variety. Sometimes it's good to leaven the heavy stuff with a bit of a discussion about undies...

Good morning, Mike (and I wish I were still in bed). Good points these - but I am sure there will be a natural separation. My guesss is that our attachement to MSE will keep all (or at least most) of the chat here. Smalls, cooking, random ideas...when ideas get to a rule breaking stage they would have to move...

    This is my understanding anyway.

    Morning Mike,

I get up at 6 normally, but allow myself the luxury of a long lie at the weekend til 7!!

Then there's the dogs to walk, the smelly food that the cat has decided overnight he "doesn't like anymore" to get rid of, and various other not terribly salubrious tasks to attend to.....

So by the time I get here, lurk as much as usual and possibly pick up the courage to post its nearly lunchtime!!:p

Hope you weren't feeling too lonely earlier?

Think Firewalker has given a good explanation of how I would like this to work :D

Brilliant quote from a PM this morning - made me hoot into my cuppa!!!

"PS - as this is your matrix you are obviously in charge - does that make you the dominatrix? :) "

    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Remember though, this is not "My Matrix" - its "Our Matrix" - the whole point is the stregth and resources we pull together that makes us stronger.

The core of who we are - the collaborative, co-operative, positive brave women who are willing to give a little time, energy, support - and sometimes good ole "bottom" kicking to help others achieve their dream lives whilst at the same time taking baby steps towards our own is what we are..................

................ some will go back to education

    ................ some will change jobs

    .............. some will find partners

    .................. some will have children

.............. some will go back to work

................ some will turn hobbies into passions

.............. some will set up businesses

We all have our own journey towards whatever makes our heart sing, and sometimes, in fact mostly its about connecting the dots that gives us the little push to get rolling.

Like Claire getting a website to sell through

LIke OliveOyl getting us all locally to take action

Like a local mother who I found an old overlocker for this week, who this week has made all the clothes for her two twin boys for the next year - and a local shop has asked her to create a window display of her designs and will be selling them on for her.

Or stumbling across a 3rd hand industrial oven that I persuaded them to ship for free to another lady in the Highlands who will be making and selling her Grannies Fruit loaves and Gingerbreads to a local Tourist site.

Or the student who wanted to design her own range of welded art - we managed to find her a fourth hand Mig-welder that was sitting gathering dust in a builders yard.

Three women off and rolling, doing what makes their hearts sing because people took the time to hear what it was that they needed and got a bit creative about finding it. Actually I stumbled across the welder when I was dropping off the plans for a chicken coop for the school:D Literally stumbled :rotfl::rotfl: Very classy

Off now to pop some cakes in my own oven. DS1 back to school and need to get organised with his packed lunch stuff.

    Back soon

I too would like the make do and mend stuff to stick around here :o

I wonder whether a lot of the energy here is generated by lots of things all being thrown into the mix together? So if they were separated out too much would we lose some of that? Just randomly thinking, might be talking rubbish! :)

I wonder whether it might be best to keep this thread how it is - MG and her challenges, making do and mend, with throw in links to Mr Big's challenges, everyone dipping in ideas and encouraging people - and then when something specific starts to take off - Claire's jewelry, Kits for Kids, other people's things, micro financing, discussion gets moved over to the other place for more detailed discussion, then we're not restricted by this site's rules, or making the poor moderators chew on their fingernails too much :D

I just don't want us to lose the cheery energy we have by dissipating it too much!

But I might just not know what I'm talking about, who knows :D Why not try it and see what happens? :D

    Now that makes sense Firewalker

The only reason we sugested another forum was that one that one particular topic we were straying to close to breaching the Codes of Conduct for THIS site. And NO I haven't been aproached or warned by any MODS - but it is the respectful thing to do - isn't it?

Me - quite happy here - but can absolutely see why when an idea has been mulled over and sprouted it might need to be taken somewhere else to be worked on.

So MSE is the Nursery - and the Matrix Forum the Big School :rotfl:

Off to have my coaching call :j

Can I leave you with something to ponder?

I wonder whether if may be appropriate to have modified versions of our CV's on the matrix site so that we can see what peoples skills and interests are - as well as seeing the glimmers of what they hope their dream life, their goal, their hedgehog idea might be.
