I have a slow cooker :) and a bread maker although I find the bread comes out very doughy, I've never had a good loaf of bread from it. Which is a shames cause it would save me loads in pack lunches.

Well you can throw any of your chopped meat/chops/chicken in there with a soup mix (or water and stock, or tinned tomatoes) and some chopped veggies - very easy dinners. Stick it on in the morning, ready for tea time.

You can pad it out with kidney beans, lentils, that sort of thing if you want.

OK Claire - taking your list, I'll add comments in RED as to where I see you could use things, combine ingredients. I noted your comments on preparation too, but I assume you can enlist the family's help at least sometimes.

    3 x tins of spaghetti
    1 x ravioli
3 x cream of chicken soup
    2 x veg soup
    2 x irish stew
    2 x tuna
3 x tinned tomsbolognese, chilli con carne, thrown into a stew or casserole.....my only comment other than that would be that you need to buy some more!!!
1 box lasagne sheets Normal lasagne, chicken & mushroom lasagne.....think outside the box on these. (box - geddit?!)
1x cyrrants A handful thrown into a rice pudding with some of the nutmeg you mention further down sprinkled over the top.
    2x rice
    2 x pasta
1x country soup mix Throw a handful into each and every slow cooked casserole type dish you make - check whether it needs overnight soaking though - realy helps bulk things out and also adds some more interest to the dish
    1 box ministrone cuppa soup
    crackers
lots of veg cup a soups Use for quick easy lunches?
    1 pot noodle
    2 x curry flavour noodles
    porridge
    musli sugar puffs
    hot choc
    gravy granuals
    oxo cubes
    chinese style noodle flavouring
    steak seasoning mix
2 pasta n sauce, cheese leek ham
    3 pilar flavour savoury rice
    2 chinese flavour savory rice
    4 chicken noodle soup
pudding rice It never fails to amaze me how little of this you need to make a really filling pudding!
    nutmeg
golden syrup Drizzle over porridge that you have further up the list! Also a prime ingredient in Twinks Hob Nobs of course!
    bournuignon casserole mix
1 sausage casserole mix You have sausages in your freezer so this one's easy!
tuna pasta bake sauce Again, you already have the tuna!
    chicken chasseur sauce
    chilli con carne sauce
    chicken casserole sauce
    ground garlic
    2 instant custard
    2 brandy sauce
2 chicken and broccli cup a soups

said that was a lot lol

    fridge

    dairy lee triangles
    butter
    8 egs
    mushrooms
    margarine
    baked potatos
    cauliflower
parsnips Roast, in this house! Also combine with the potatoes and swede to make a lovely three-root mash
    swede
    apples
    oranges
    pears
bannanas Slice over that porridge we spoke nabout before!
kiwi fruit You've got the makings of a nice fruit salad here with the strawberries, pears, bananas and apples maybe.
    strawberries
    triffles
    cooked chicken wings
    onions
    baby potatos
    normal potatos
    gammon joint Sunday lunch?
2 packs of bacon As was mentioned before, this can be stretched by using it in pasta dishes. You mention a cauliflower earlier on - why not try califlower cheese with some bacon chopped up and cooked in the cheese sauce? Very tasty!
    milk.

    freezer

    sausages Sausage Casserole!
sausage squares How about a fry up as a treat? These, eggs, bacon, onion rings....
mini pizza How about doing an "odds and ends" quick tea on a saturday or sunday using these, the cocktail sausages, chicken wings, and maybe make some potato wedges to go with them?
    tuna pate
chicken and pasta bake (meal for 1)
    chicken roll (sandwich meat
    chicken breast fillets
    onion rings
    peas Mmmm.....frozen peas are ace!
    cauliflower
    sweetcorn
    garlic mushrooms
pork chops 2 bags I'm always temped to just do pork chops simple, grilled with some lovely fresh veg and boiled potatoes.
    minted lamb chops
more chicken breast Risotto, with pasta, or stir fried will stretch these the furthest. Or, how about making a white sauce (cheat by whisking a couple of tablespoons of flour into a pint of milk to start with, then melt a large knob of butter and pour the milk / four mix in, makes it easier to avoid lumps and will save you needing to beat it in the pan which I am guessing you may find tricky?) and adding mushrooms, peas and sweetcorn, and perhaps a couple of rashers of bacon, and layering up in a dish with lasagne sheets? Lasagne doesn't just have to be about minced beef and tomatoes after all!
steak Steak, chips and garlic mushrooms sounds like a nice treat meal to me!
diced beef Cut some of this up quite small and then use as you usually would mince - makes a lovely bolognese with more texture than you get using the usual mince, and is also ace in chilli con carne. The rest will work well for casseroles or stews.
diced pork Pork & apple casserole in the slow cooker if you have one?
    cocktail sausages
pork steaks More sunday lunches maybe? Try grilling them then topping off with some lightly fried apple slices.
2 small beef joints Sunday lunches again I reckon, seems a shame to use them up on random meals when they can make something special for a sunday.
burgers Quick and easy weekend tea.
4 pks of 4 chicken steaks
yorkshire puddings You know all those sunday lunches you've got......! ;-)

I also have sr and plain flour

You've got lots of sauces etc to go with your various meats - why not have a look at the serving suggestions on the jars? You might not want to follow them to the letter but it may help with inspiration striking!

4 threads sound good to me MG - I'm off for a few days away in Derbyshire tomorrow - so please could someone PM or email the link and passwords needed.

Its my brothers 50th birthday tomorrow - have just finished wrapping up 50 presents!!!! - have done a trip down memory lane - thank goodness for places like Hawkins bazaar etc - so it hasn't cost a huge amount.

Look forward to catching up when I get back , although at the rate this thread moves it could take a while - BTW 60 football shirts in my hall !!!

I shopped for meat in Morrisons last night. Spent a little over £12 which has today divided out into around 15 meals worth. I used their "3 for £10" offer for a pack of mince (two 2 person portions frozen plus the balance left for a pot of bolognese which I'll cook up tomorrow) a pack of pork shoulder steaks (the two largest ones have been frozen for a sunday lunch, and the balance split over two lots cliced up small for stir frying, plus another cut up into chunks for a casserole) and a pack of casserole beef (three beef stews coming up!:D). Also got a pack of lamb bones as they had a pack for 41p which was the ribs..... they have done us for tea tonight having been marinated in soy, balsamic, honey and some tomato & apple sauce overnight. Bargain! Not a vast amount of meat on them but what there was tasted delicious! Finally got a pack of the pork cheeks that someone mentioned finding in Morrisons earlier in the week - that's been split into two - one lot frozen, and the other will go in the tagine with some other goodies for a nice slow cook tomorrow....!

Am feeling very virtuous and MSE now! :A

    Evening all

Re new website - I think I'd like to see the 'make do and mend/saving and stretching pennies/meal plan/house type stuff' stay on this thread and site.

Just to clarify my suggestion earlier about 'matrix accessories' - I didn't mean for Claire not to make profit on these items - I would be happy to pay cost + claire's profit + matrix premium for donation (£3.00 or whatever that would be)

I've had a busy day dragging 2 kids round doing some product availability photos....you wouldn't believe some of the things I do for a fee lol.....steady!!:rotfl:
