BTW why are we being conned - despite the oil price being the same as last march we are paying 6 or 7p a litre more still for heating oil.
Probably because the pound is weaker Vs the dollar than a year ago

    Paying 48.9p in north Cumbria.
  • BoilerJuice is only good if they'll give you a quote. I've tried their site and they don't have anyone in my area, so my search is returned blank.

Ordered an oil tank fill on Friday and have been quoted 61.8p per litre (in the Western Isles) No real competition, so got to go with it :(
  • I set up an oil buying group in my area 3 years ago. I started with about ten people from my village and I order oil about every 6 weeks and get better prices than Boilerjuice. I use e-mail to contact members of the group, collate the orders then I ring around to get the best price. I e-mail a list of the orders to the oil company and advise the group members the delivery details. I now have over 100 members and this month alone I ordered over 60,000 litres of domestic heating oil. The people who save most are those who can only afford to buy 500 litres because they are charged the most per litre if they buy alone.
  • hey DallasOilKween that sounds like a great thing you have done where abouts are you? maybe other people could join you as well. I imagine that the reason boilerjuice cant always beat prices is because they need to make a profit to keep their business going whereas when people are doing it as a cooperative there is no one taking a cut.

 If it is of any help, been ringing round again today as still hanging on, prices quoted Bangor North Wales area, 51.8, 50.96, 51.98, 50.9, 53.9, 50.75, so best price with vat is £479.58 for 900 litres.

    STILL HANGING ON.................
Its a bloomin gamble isn't it, but Oil Price Check pages £492.71 at 12.39pm inc vat is not far out.

    Cheers, oap:confused:
  • Have you noticed if the price being quoted has dropped any? I see the dollar price per barrel is dropping again (on the Beeb commodities bit) after the end of month rise....

I went on to Google and put in oil prices and found a webpage called swinney.net and the price of a barrel of oil is on there, it has gone up today since I put those local prices on, but have not checked the local suppliers again, leaving it now until next Thursday or Friday. It seems quite an interesting website, but do not know anything about it. The price of oil since last Friday has gone up a bit today, but not by much, so as I said before, hanging on, and maybe sorry!! or Pleased!! Regards oap
  • I've just been quoted 46.99p per litre - the best price since March this year. I hope this helps.
