An odd day... NSD again yesterday and today.....

Yesterday I was so upset by DS2 I phoned the local carers group. They sent someone to see me today and then they contacted GP. He is coming this afternoon to see DS2. We are worried about him physically as well as mentally now. It is good that someone else took it out of our hands........

Grrrrrrrrrrrrr to the government who are to blame for DS2's lack of work and depression. They really have no idea of the harm that they are doing to people all over the UK.

The carer lady brought me some flowers and is organising a spa day for me too.... It made me smile but still feeling very very wobbly inside.

Thanks plmbl. I hope we get a good outcome. It has escalated to a level where we can't help him any more.

I am feeling like it is time we had some peace in our family, no more stresses for a while please.

Lucky, beanie, the doc was great. Spent nearly an hour here. He is an old friend so knows DS2 really well. He was shocked at how thin he is. Said the system had failed DS2 as mental health services had not followed through recommendations and at a mental health meeting yesterday DS2 was not mentioned. He said an appointment for a psychiatrist should have been made In October

I write all this so hopefully we can help prevent anyone else being allowed to get to this stage. Fight your corner, don't allow well meaning health professionals to fob you off with the 'confidentiality' rules. We have had three phone calls from the medical practice this evening with messages for me relating to DS2. I now have full access to his medical files along with numbers to phone if I am concerned. We have follow up tomorrow and then next Thursday. Things are now moving fast.

Thank you to those on here who have supported me through this. I can't express how relieved I feel.

I am so saddened that this has got so far, trained as a mental health occupational therapist, it's one of the reasons I don't want to work for the statutory bodies as I feel the system and culture lets so many down.

I pray that things do improve soon... With best wishes to you all

  • So pleased you have got the ball rolling and quickly too. It's reassuring to know you can do more on DS2's behalf in future Xx
