Aaw pooh..that is hard. I know when OH forgot my birthday 2 years ago I felt pretty sad, it was as if he didn't care..which wasn't true, he was trying to save money..but it still hurt. He is so creative he could have made something for gawd's sake!

    Overlocker sounds a good idea.

Hope OH gets some work soon. Anything he can do around the house to keep him occupied?

  • I didn't get any presents from my DH this last christmas either and it's my birthday in Feb so we'll see if he remembers that one. I won't hold my breath though as he's notorious for forgetting everyone's birthdays and never buying presents. He's called me up from A&E before to ask one of the kid's birthdays so he could fill out the forms :wall: useless!!

Happy, we are going to New York in April for DS1's wedding.

No snow here yet, but we are prepared, freezer stocked up, lots of tinned food too. We could manage a couple of weeks snowed in if necessary :D It won't snow now we are prepared. :D

brizzled and DFW I am sorry that you got nothing either but thank you for making me feel better about it.

:rotfl: at him having to phone up to ask the children's birthdays.

We will have been married for 30 years next month so I have specifically asked for something. The problem is that I have no idea what to buy Mr P. He will say he wants nothing but I must find something for him...

We have lots of jobs for Mr P to do around the house. I just can't get him motivated. He did sit in front of his SAD lamp today so hopefully it will help. :)

  • You are more than justified in buying yourself something and treating yourself is long overdue (look who's talking!). Do NOT feel guilty Xx

Well, another day spent travelling to a shopping centre yesterday. DD needed to buy a flower girl dress for DGD as she is flower girl for two weddings this year. We went to Metro centre and DD made sure I went right into the bra dept and wouldn't leave until she knew I was being measures and was going to buy a new bra.

My last few bras have been 3bay purchases. Still feels wrong to spend on me. But I really needed something comfortable to wear. They had a sale so I got 10% off a £22 bra :D

We then had to decide whether to risk staying out longer and not being able to get home or go to 4ldi. After much deliberation we decided to shop in 4ldi as to buy the things we needed would cost a huge amount more in local supermarkets. I spent £52 but bought a couple of things for DGD's birthday in June ( a cutlery set and some bibs) and a bath toy for new GN.

We are now stocked up with just about everything we could possibly need if we are snowed in.

We are about 30m below the snowline at present and we would like it to stay there.

We received the second bill for the boiler installation which has to be paid when work starts. I was just about to pay it when I received a phone call to say the installation is to be put back a week so isn't going to start until 10th. We can survive but the cottage is occupied that week so we can't go in there to keep warm :( I might have to go to DD's.

I still haven't bought the overlocker........ maybe later...

I know beanielou, it is getting to be frustrating now. We want it in before the weather starts to improve :D

In the grand scheme of things it doesn't really matter. We have one warm room, it could be worse. And we have been without a working boiler for 2 years and one month :D We now know how to manage things. We had another delivery of firewood yesterday so can keep warm for a while yet.

Yesterday was a tiring day. We had our meeting with a solicitor and decided to go with his company for the probate and distribution of DA's estate. She has over 20 beneficiaries :D A very generous woman. And money in about 10 different accounts/companies.

It made me sad to find out how much she had and she was going cold to save on heating costs. :(

We kept telling her to spend her money on herself and not save it for her beneficiaries.

Mr P went to her house to measure up for some cladding as it came down in the January storms. It is purely decorative but will look better with it replaced. He brought her wine rack home with him !!!!

He says it is mine but it feels wrong to have it here.

    Spent £25 on fuel yesterday

Today we spent £32 on tickets to see a band at the weekend in our village hall. They are £8 each but we bought two for our sons too so they can have a night out. DS1 is saving for his move to Florida and DS2 is still unemployed.

On Friday DS1 has his medical for his immigration visa to USA. It is in London so I have volunteered to go with him. It means we can spend some time together before he leaves for America. Mr P had the chance to go but gracefully declined. he can think of nothing worse. I have booked a ticket for myself at the V and A, 80s exhibition.

DS1 has to go to somewhere near Oxford Street for his appointment so I need to show him how to get there and then do some shopping :P

I hope your boiler gets sorted soon

London sounds fun, as does quality time with DS before he goes

I'm sure DA would want you to have the wine rack
