    i didn't know t-mobile had any coverage, it's that bad .....

I had to laugh at this post. I live in a Fenland town and I get HSDPA speeds even indoors. Just turned the wi-fi off on my Desire, and I've got 1662kbps download and 492kbps upload in my dining room. Best I've had outdoors is 1926 down and 549 up. The upload speed is better than I get off my AOL broadband on wi-fi.
  • I work for everything everywhere and they have indeed merged, eventually you won't have to opt in but the network will roam automatically. Both brands are to be kept as is for at least a couple of years if not much longer. As a combined network they will have far superior coverage than any other network for both 2G & 3G.

Personally completed the online form @

    https://www.t-mobile.co.uk/online-optin/check-eligibility/

I get a text message OK that says reply to 2121 with 'Yes' and I keep getting:

"Sorry, we had a problem completing your request. We're working on fixing the problem now. Please try again later. Thanks"

Been trying for days to reply to this.

Did anyone that's had this problem manage to solve it?
    I'm still getting that message...

I went to the web page again, then resubmitted my details - it sent me another text to reply yes to and it worked.
If I've help in anyway, please remember to thank me :-)

me & OH are with Orange on a business contract, i did the online sign up for the switch signal thingy yesterday & got the activation texts last night. OH has gone to work & said his phone has changed over to t-mobile, so at least we know it works! makes no difference in the house though, still on orange with a rubbish signal - we're due an upgrade soon & i'll be giving a UMA enabled phone a go to see if it improves things...
  • My current phone keeps on showing the roaming icon. It's an HTC Touch HD. Does anyone know if this will be resolved with other handsets? I am thinking of getting a Desire HD. I hope they fix it and give us shared 3G too!

What if you set it to manually roam, i.e. manually select Orange or T-mobile depending on which you are not on?

    that's laughable. they can't compete with o2.

At the moment, you will only transfer to the other network when you completely lose signal on your home network. So if you are sitting with 1 bar of reception on Orange, you won't move to T-Mobile.

As I understand it though, the plan is for it to move automatically to the best network seamlessly so you have a good coverage as possible at all times. This probably won't happen until late next year though.
