As I understand it though, the plan is for it to move automatically to the best network seamlessly so you have a good coverage as possible at all times. This probably won't happen until late next year though.
interesting. if that's the case, i wonder why OH at work switched to t-mobile when his usual orange signal is ok there 99% of the time?0 -

Maybe passed through a dead patch on his way to work? Or is Orange reception non-existent in certain parts of the building, and this caused it to change?
I can only speak from my own experience, but I stay on my home network (T-Mobile) until I completely lose reception, then I transfer to Orange where I stay for a period of time. It doesn't seem to revert back again immediately when the home network is regained.Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0 -
I'm with t-mobile. My reception has always been very poor at work, never been able to receive calls and most of the time have to go outside to text while my colleagues on O2 and Vodafone have no problems.
I thought with the merger my signal would improved. It hasn't, still the same even if I try with Orange:(0 -

Exact same problem, with the merger they still can't compete with O2 or Vodafone, 9/10 both networks coverage overlap, meaning where Orange have good signal so does T-Mo and where one has crap coverage so does the other, in fact its almost like they are using the same transmitters.0 -
I'm finding when I'm on the orange-t mobile and go on the Internet it's slower than when I'm just on orange as the 3G thing goes and a little o pops up.0

Same here - I can't get a signal in our office at work - have to go outside to text and miss calls - any voicemail then seems to get blocked and can turn up an hour later! I'm with tmobile - on my main phone and the PAYG I use for more work/business type calls.
Had the text on both phones today where I replied Yes to 2121, do I need to alter anything as be good to get a signal in the office.
Was thinking of moving to 02/Tesco when I eventually get an iphone 4 Im after.Sealed Pot Challenge number 8 Amount declared £365.50.

Both brands are to be kept as is for at least a couple of years if not much longer. As a combined network they will have far superior coverage than any other network for both 2G & 3G.:jDON'T STEAL!!! I gather it is the UK operation of these companies that merged. Abroad, they continue as separate companies. Why? That effect will this merge have on competition. I fear the treatment of UK as the 'Treasure Island'.
Yes Orange UK and T-Mobile UK have merged to form everything everywhere, 50% owned by france telecom and 50% by deutsch telecom.Aug 24 - Mortgage Balance £242,040.19
