Its a fully merged company owned 50/50 by France Telecom and Deutsche Telekom, I am told, by a lass who works in a nearby Orange office, that Orange will be promoted as a premium network and T-Mobile as a budget network.
Not sure how accurate that info is to be honest, seems daft to me to maintain two different brands, mind you Lloyds and TSB managed to live side by side for a while despite being the same company!
Personally I think that we will see them continue to exist in the present form for a couple of years, at least until they realise how much money they could save by having just one brand and one set of shops.0 -
Same network - different price brackets.
I'll stay on the "budget brand" thank you very much.0 -
I've been with Orange and T-Mobile, currently with T-Mobile and cannot fault them. I've spoken to mostly UK call centres but have spoken to off shore call centres too - Always polite, helpful and got whatever I needed sorted.
Plus a I have an excellent Tariff:-
£5 per month =
100 Mins,
100 text + flexible booster = Unlimited text
3GB Web N' Walk Plus
AND FREE Family Booster... (This would usually cost an additional £5)
All for a fiver...If I've help in anyway, please remember to thank me :-)0 -
I'm on Orange with a Desire and have just connected to the T-Mobile network for this first time. Get full signal in my flat, whereas on Orange I only get 1-2 bars. This is going to be excellent, especially when out in the sticks.
I wouldn't bet on it, I'm on Orange, get 1 bar indoors and on T-Mobile get damn all, When out and about where I do get full Orange signal there is also full T-Mobile, so for me personally this is all rather pointless, around here the networks are in the following order in terms of reception.
1-O2
2-Vodafone
3-Orange
4-T-Mobile0 -
i didn't know t-mobile had any coverage, it's that bad .....I wouldn't bet on it, I'm on Orange, get 1 bar indoors and on T-Mobile get damn all, When out and about where I do get full Orange signal there is also full T-Mobile, so for me personally this is all rather pointless, around here the networks are in the following order in terms of reception.

I have great coverage with Orange, my OH is on 3 and was on T Mobile before & he always has to stand in the garden at home to use his phone.
So, I doubt the T Mobile masts are going to be of any great benefit, but possibly when I'm travelling about?0 -

... but not as two brand names but just one as Lloyds TSB.
anyway, it makes no difference to me, i'm not with either Orange or t-mobile (left them because of the bad coverage).0 -
i cant seem to get onto the orange page to sign up and just keep getting an error code. any advice?

Try texting "Yes" to 2121.
Personally completed the online form @
https://www.t-mobile.co.uk/online-optin/check-eligibility/
I get a text message OK that says reply to 2121 with 'Yes' and I keep getting:
"Sorry, we had a problem completing your request. We're working on fixing the problem now. Please try again later. Thanks"
Been trying for days to reply to this.If I've help in anyway, please remember to thank me :-)0
